Would you expect them to replace it?

Its nothing expensive but at the same time soemthing I cant afford to replace at the moment and I need it.

She has said she cant find it. But she was acting edgy so I suspect she has just chucked it

AIBU in thinking she should replace it?

What is it?

GabiSolis · 06/02/2016 14:42

It would depend on the item and the reason for the falling out tbh.

Lolliewolliedollie020 · 06/02/2016 14:50

I wish i knew Gabi. She just decided to cut me off and block my number.

Its a coat. I went to look for it the other day as im going away on Monday and then realised. Emailed her and she said she has one in the house but isnt sure if its the right one. Awaiting photograph for the past 2 days.

Clearly isnt mature enough to say she has chucked it Hmm

How long did you leave it there?

ImperialBlether · 06/02/2016 14:52

How long had it been at her house? Had you just left it there or had she borrowed it?

Lolliewolliedollie020 · 06/02/2016 14:53

Just before Xmas.

She just decided to cut me off and block my number.

Just like that? That's odd
Does she usually do that?
Are you positive you haven't done anything to her even behind her back that you hoped she wouldn't find out?

Lolliewolliedollie020 · 06/02/2016 14:54

I brought it round for her as she said she didnt have a thick winter coat and then she went and brought one. I went once or twice after that just completely forgot about it until i went looking for it the other day

So she's not really your friend is she?
In other words this behaviour is expected from her. Not sure why you have her the coat then!
If forget about the coat, too late

Bluetrews25 · 06/02/2016 15:11

Instinct says she's sold it.......
But I have a nasty, suspicious mind, ignore me!

MsMims · 06/02/2016 15:13

Yes she should replace it, but not likely she will if flakey unfortunately.

Had a similar situation with a relative - childhood solid wood bed lent to them, they took it to the tip without even consulting us. No apology let alone replacement.

abbsismyhero · 06/02/2016 15:17

i would contact her again and ask again its your coat you lent her a coat when she needed it she should return it i would of when i fell out with you tbh i would have got all your stuff out of my house

GabiSolis · 06/02/2016 15:17

Hmmm yes in that instance she does owe you for it. I doubt you'll get the money or coat though unfortunately.

lorelei9 · 06/02/2016 15:18

I agree with you OP she should replace it
I had similar and had to go and collect a sleeping bag, it cost about £80.

She hadn't thrown it out and was completely mature about arranging a date for me to collect it. Still a bit odd doing the "hello" on the doorstep but went as well as it could really.

But in short, if you didn't fall out over something dire that made her want to exact revenge, or aeons had passed or some such, she should be ready to give it back or replace it.

willowsummers · 06/02/2016 15:20

I gave my colleagues coat away by accident once Blush

Before Christmas is several weeks.
