Yes, me and the washing machine saga again.
Went to look at washers in John Lewis this evening.
Said I wanted one with large aperture, to make it easier to get my duvet in. Got quite a lecture from the salesman about not laundering duvets. WTF?
I often wash my summer duvet, big blankets, throws etc, used to wash the kids duvets, too, cos, well, kids!
DH and I were Hmm as I've only been doing laundry for 40 years.
When we left the shop dh said 'You've got to tell your mumsthing people about this'

You should have gone all Mumsnet on him and called him a skank for not washing his duvet AT LEAST weekly and then quizzed him how often he showered and whether or not he owned a toilet brush Grin

hehe, Tatty, I might have done if there alone, but it would have been a long walk home - we'd gone in dh car, and he would have fled in embarrassment!

I have two boys that still wet the bed almost every night (sometimes more than once). My record is four duvets washed in one day. I would say I wash an average of 9 duvets a week Sad.

If they wet the bet almost every night why not put them in pull ups as they aren't toilet trained? I couldn't be bothered with that much washing as I work. You don't have to tell their friends they are in pullups but if they're not toilet trained then they stay in nappies and you then start trying again a few months later.

2rebecca They are seven and nine. The enuresis clinic has told us to go cold turkey with the nine year old (we have an alarm). The seven year old does wear pull-ups but they sometimes leak.

What does the JL colleague ahem suggest? Dd3 age 6 wets the bed with her legover duvet. 4 dcs, puke, wee etc. yes I wash duvets in the machine

I also wash duvets a couple of times a week due to DS (9) still wetting the bed. Also been advised not to use pull ups.

I also wash my king size feather duvet with no problems. My washer has an 11kg drum.

Hippee · 29/01/2016 22:28

trixy - I agree - I can manage a king size feather duvet too - then dry with a tennis ball in the tumble drier - comes out a treat. Sympathies for your DS too. Mine is worried about next year's residential with school. Can't see me sending him if he's not sorted.

I'm another one who washes (washable) duvets in my large capacity washing machine. Wash at 60 with extra water and then tumble dry - seems to work fine and some duvets in this house have been washed lots (looking at you children and pets). I'm sure I've saved a fortune over the years, last time I took a duvet to Johnsons I'm sure it was about £20 to have it washed.
