To think something should've been done about this mould after nearly 2 weeks? (picture included)

Just that really? Still haven't hear back from Landlord since him saying he would sort it, 2 weeks ago?

Op doctors letter.....get that and it will work wonders on landlords, authorities.

Sorry should have been more specific. It's been caused by a leak. Large patch of water/damp appeared literally in a few hours.either caused by a flood upstairs or drainage problems (this is what LL is meant to be finding out) The mould has grown more and more since.

No I haven't been happy to sit in it for 2 weeks but tried cleaning it off and is neigh on impossible as it's on wallpaper. It's in my bedroom. I do open windows and have the heating on.

I used kitchen wipes for some that occurred in my son's room. That is fairly gentle and should kill the spores although the stain will remain until it's redecorated I'm afraid. Still, it will keep you safe until the LL sorts it out.

ok, we find it is a building issue (a leak) so that IS the landlord's problem.

keep phoning. Involve environmental health if you want - you have the right and that means you can't be evicted.

Whatever you do do not take any advice that suggests you withhold any rent until the LL gets it sorted. That will land you in all sorts of new hells.

Take pictures as it changes, grows, gets blacker. If you have a managing agent, or there is a management company for the block, email them and copy in the LL and ask for a timeframe. If it is from a leak then there will be insurance in place and that should be put in action immediately. Blocked drainage might complicate the who pays what issues.

So, if you act as though you know it is currently a simple leak that needs to be fixed now before it becomes catastrophic you might scare someone into action.

Good luck.

Most mould is due to condensation....drying clothes on radiators...not opening windows when cooking...condensation when running a bath....etc....even breathing (approx 1 litre a day) produces moisture....its a nightmare..you just have to keep on top of it ... The bedroom of a poster that had rising damp ..must be a ground floor bedroom....otherwise it can't be rising damp....unless of course the whole house is derelict!
