Do you work in a pharmacy? Do you judge people on their medications?

I always wonder about this when I pick up my prescriptions. I'm on a cocktail of antipsychotic and antidepressant meds and I always think they head tilt at me a bit. I'm interested to know whether this is my paranoia talking or whether the pharmacist sees the prescription and makes a judgement.

What do you think? I'd love to hear from people who do that job and I promise it's not upsetting me, it's just a thought I've had for a while.

britnay in theory it is not working out like that in practice. Thank goodness for pharmacists with patience of saints. It is the NHS rules and manufacturers that are the issue not the pharmacists on the whole. Just hugely frustrating.

I have to pick up lorazepam & risperidone for ds1 - I did wonder whether it would raise an eyebrow - but no.

Liquid meds are a nightmare though - really struggled with the lorazepam over xmas when the manufacturers stopped making it - it has a 4 week shelf life :head meet wall:

I get BV on a regular basis and at first I was sure the cashier working in the chemist was having a secret little laugh about it, if not actually judging me, when I went to collect the antibacterials for it. Now I don't care a bit, though Smile

My SIL is a pharmacist and says around 50% of the prescriptions she makes up are for drugs for mental health conditions, mostly anti-depressants and meds for anxiety - I'd image it's similar for most pharmacists and so common they don't bat an eyelid.

I don't understand the posts about men not getting cystitis meds. Are cystitis meds different for men and women then?

britnay · 17/01/2016 18:29

Can't sell OTC meds to a man with cystitis symptoms, they need to see GP.
