AIBU to be so annoyed that men have all the fun

Why is it always men who get to carry out really exciting staff like the Brinks Matt robbery and the Hatten Garden Diamond Heist. And I know they never found the people who robbed the safety deposit box in Mayfair but I bet they were men too!!!

Seriously though, i'm curious as to why more women aren't invited to take part.

More seriously, it actually annoys me that it isn't more acknowledged what a really high proportion of criminals are men. Men commit practically all violent crime. If men were more like women, the crime rate would be literally decimated. It pisses me off that people are quite happy to tell women how to be more like men (lean in and whatnot) but it never occurs that society might be better off the other way round.

I so agree with you, mello!

"Feminine" traits like empathy and nurturing don't cause wars, do they?

Justaboy · 14/01/2016 22:49

Genetic, I think you'll find;(

sugar21 · 14/01/2016 22:55

I like that according to the beeb one of the men was the eccentric. So called because he wore a fez and a female's dressing gown. Good grief the mind boggles.!

I've been considering a new career as a Bond villain. I have the floofy cat, the diabolic nature and the in depth knowledge of some dangerous potential biological weapons. I have an opening for a sponsor with their own Alp or Island, if anyone suitable is interested?

HeyYouGetOffMyCloud · 14/01/2016 23:05

the women couldn't get babysitters

ThomasRichard · 14/01/2016 23:07

Xenia could lend you the island Diseases.

It's a bit like Harry and the Wrinklies in RL, except in the story is was only baddies that got hurt. In this raid real people suffered.

Isn't it because mums go Iceland?

Justanotherlurker · 14/01/2016 23:10

Against the thread, but I personally can't wait for the inevitable film.

I bet it was one of the wives who bought the forensics book though as a last ditch attempt to make them clean up after themselves

ToastedOrFresh · 14/01/2016 23:10

Shoplifting is considered to be a 'woman's crime' I suspect because more women do it ? It's also a crime of opportunity i.e. it was there so I took it.

I don't mean the professional stolen to order clothes appearing on a market stall near you......

Men take more risks but are more likely to be found dead up a mountain or in court for murder or a high level theft or fraud.

Not true in all cases but going back to a pp about there being more male criminals.

GruntledOne · 14/01/2016 23:13

The trouble with recruiting women is that they all go off and get pregnant, then they demand maternity leave, next thing you know they'll be demanding the right to breastfeed during heists...

ToastedOrFresh · 14/01/2016 23:16

Hell yeah. I remember the Phil Collins film, 'Buster' which was a dramatization of the great train robbery. That was a good film.

Hopefully they can make it good.

When the cctv footage was released from the 'Bad Grandad' robbery, apparently one of the villains was of such a 'slight' build they were assumed to be female. I didn't think for one minute that they were female but I wonder which of the robbers would be indignant to know that !

I think something like that you need drive and commitment which, at the risk of getting all hormonal (like women are accused of) is a testosterone thing. Something blokes have lots of, apparently.

ComposHatComesBack · 14/01/2016 23:39

until they suddenly changed into middle aged, rotund, slightly menacing looking men. I said "ooooh... these all look a bit different?" and Mr lovely policeman looked over and said "oh aye, they're all armed robbery

Bank robberies are vanishingly rare and their hayday was the 70s. The decline in bank robberies is quite startling and some of the reasons are discussed in this article.

Which means that it is unsurprising that it was perpetuated by a bunch of old gimmers who would have been in their blagging prime back in the 70s.

If you arean aspiring young criminal now (male or female)why risk getting shot or a 20 year sentence or getting grassed up when you can perpetuate a bit of online fraud on your laptop in the comfort of your living room?

coffeeisnectar · 14/01/2016 23:40

I think women would have got away with it. Women overthink things more and would have thought about ways they could be caught. One of them would have managed to get into the cctv place by taking in some home baking and a toddler who would have knocked a drink over the controls. The meetings would be at coffee morning and toddler groups and any detailed drawings passed off as school home projects older dc are working on.

They'd have used code words in fb messages such as "are we going shopping to look at wedding rings" for casing the joint.

No one would suspect them.

Krampus · 15/01/2016 00:00

Women don't get caught as much?
Get the level of crime right? Why go for some massive ego massaging huge profile crime that demands high media and police attention. Poor thinking.

Krampus · 15/01/2016 00:13

Or if I judged by tv, women shouldn't do crime becuase they make too much noise with their constantly open mouthed heavy breathing. Nikiki Alexander from Silent Witness, you're not as bad as your US & UK peers but please close your lips, stop taking sudden intakes of breath and breathing heavily.

Actually all drama female actors you are allowed to close your mouths at some point.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 15/01/2016 00:22

A life of crime is actually one of the few avenues I haven't considered but it would be PERFECT - three day week, term time only and I could do a lot of the planning from home. But I am guessing that you don't get maternity pay or private health coverage. Grin
