Masterchef UK (and the Australian one) which I sometimes catch as well, seems to be in a whole different league to the USA one.

A lot of the the American offerings seem very ammateurish - There doesn't seem to be a high level of skill involved. They were making cupcakes? the other day, and most of them were worse than what a child would make and the other concoctions seem a bit amateurish as well.

Some of the contestants open cans as well, to add to dishes. Who goes on Masterchef and opens cans?
I don't get it, we are the ones who have a reputation for having crap food.

In comparison, from what I've seen so far, even one of our worst contestants are like michelin star chefs compared to most of the USA masterchef contestants.

I'm amazed at the lack of knowledge about different cuisines. The Chinese challenge would have seen some stunning dishes, from the Oz series especially; the US contestants just made shit stir fry.

And the test where they had to name as many of 25 "ingredients" as they could? Ridiculous. They only got like 9 each.

And SO much repetition.

I hate American shows for that.

It's dreadful. And is Gordon very sunburnt or has he had a bad fake tan?!

Gordon saying a sous-vide machine is the most daring use of machinery on MC ever? Oh puh-lease.

US and Canadian Dragon's Den is completely dire too.

Whilst not the biggest fan of master chef it's on in this house constantly and twice now I've seen a taste test and at least once was for a straight eviction from the competition I don't really agree with that, but the consensus in this house is that it's not as good, there are many better international versions, and I agree it is repetitious

I'm a massive fan of the Australia one, the American one is awful and looks like it will be a very short series. I much prefer this format for the show then, not a fan of the U.K. Master chef version at all.

I like UK Master Chef. Especially the last series of MasterChef The Professionals.

I haven't watched a whole series of the Australian one, but the episodes I have watched seem to be to a very high level..

The Australian is the best by a long way, the contestants the format and the judges are all superb. I turned the US one off in disgust at their poor cooking and their pound shop George knock off.

I hate the US version. I tried watching it and it was dire. No one seemed to stand out as very skilled or even likeable.

MC Australia is the best one. I wish the UK version was more like it but I think it's because it's heavily sponsored by various companies (Coles, etc) which wouldn't be allowed on the BBC.

MC Australia wins hands down in this house too . The level of skill is just amazing , particularly on this last series . Just started watching USA and I am yet to be convinced . Gordon can't stay still for a second , and I'm not mad keen on all the whooping . Maybe it'll improve , it's done about 5 series hasn't it ?

The US one thats on just now is from 2010. Hopefully it will improve with age!! -and no ive not even looked up wiki to see who won-
