AIBU to not like magicians?

It's not like magic is real. It's just a trick. They know how to do something that you don't and because of that they get all showy off about it and call it magic. They smugly taunt us by demonstrating that it's impossible, but it is possible because they cheat and they lie. Bastards.
I can do stuff that some people cant. I can change the batteries in a thing at work and other people don't know how, but I don't jump into evening dress and get all mystic about it.
They should tell us how their tricks work or fuck off.

Layers isn't far off actually!! Smile Plus loads of Velcro etc.
Mind, even knowing how it's done its still just as impressive - if not more so.... Well actually, knowing 'how' it's done makes it sound simple so less impressive - having tried it makes it more impressive if you get me.

But yes, layers and specially tailored clothes.

Yes, totally agree! DH has given up watching magic shows with me as I am so grumpy and end up sat there complaining loudly that I want to know how they did it. Agree with a pp that it would actually be interesting if they showed you how the tricks work at the end!

See I've watched Dynamo on TV and in have come to the conclusion that he is an actual wizard (did anyone see what he did on Scott Mill's radio show with the box?) So he isn't a liar.

Crap magicians are boring. Kids ones are a bit tedious but kids love them so they are forgiven as they aren't there to entertain me.

I love the good ones so YABU.

Gah!! YABU. Darcy Oake.

Thereagain, YANBU, since Paul Daniels also exists.

dodobookends · 14/01/2016 23:17

There is something about that Dynamo... definitely a wizard

KurriKurri · 15/01/2016 04:36

No you are not BU, - I saw Paul Daniels on some programme long after his famous TV years doing a show in some hell hole to the polar opposite of a sell out audience, and he climbed inside a giant bag and writhed about a bit then the bag fell off and he just stood looking a bit sad. God knows what the trick was supposed to be - 'how to look like a total twat' I presume.

But magicians aren't as completely hateful as jugglers (surely the dullest people on the planet)
Clowns (creepy as fuck and almost certainly serial killers)
And people who ride unicycles (Why? you can get ones with two wheels and they are better)

Dh knows some good magic tricks, but he won't bloody tell me how they're done Hmm

I sometimes find him teaching ds how to do them and, when I enter the room, they stop what they're doing and just look at me until I leave.

I've tried to get ds to spill the beans, but he won't show me either.

It's very frustrating.

I love a good magic trik. I also love it when they show you how it's done.

Cups and balls - boring as hell, until you see it with clear cups

Just checked with Dante. Magicians go to the 8th level of Hell.

"The magicians, diviners, fortune tellers, and panderers are all here, as are the thieves. Some wallow in human excrement. Serpents writhe and wrap around men, sometimes fusing into each other. Bodies are torn apart. When you arrive, you will want to put your hands over your ears because of the lamentations of the sinners here, who are afflicted with scabs like leprosy, and lay sick on the ground, furiously scratching their skin off with their nails. Indeed, justice divine doth smite them with its hammer."

Too good for 'em!
