Fed up with Next's weird, inconsistant sizing system.

I recently bought a pair of their black 'high waist enhancer' straight leg jeans in a size 12.

The thigh part is super tight on ( I have average sized thighs) and yet the waist and stomach area, after wearing the whole day, is way too roomy.
In fact, after a day's wear, the waist is now gaping at the back and the stomach area is bagging - just what you don't want in a pair of jeans. Jeans should be fitting and pull you in a bit around the stomach area.

I have another pair of black tapered trousers from Next, same size and they are way too tight on the waist.

AIBU to want to never shop at this place again until they sort their goddam sizes out once and for all?

I'm wondering whether as well as the silly sizings, they're also putting too much lycra (or other elasticated material) in their garments. Or something. Confused

I'm another one who is a 12 jeans normal but 14 in petite - they seem to make them smaller all over

Their trousers are cut large (normal size) but their tops struggle to accommodate breasts!

tobysmum77 · 09/01/2016 19:31

I think the shorter they are cut the less room there is in general - its the same between L and XL.

Update though following the washing and tumble drying regime jeans are now a similar size to the others Grin Hmm

hollowlegs · 09/01/2016 19:41

tobysmum, good to know they shrunk right.

If I stick my jeans on a hot wash and a hot tumble dry, as the waist is shrinking the legs will be shrinking as well.
The legs are too tight as it is.

I can't buy a thing for myself in Next. However, their slim fit school trousers are the only thing that my tall, skinny DD2 can wear so they do get some things right.

I buy a combo of Long Tall Sally and M&S mostly, with the odd thing from Sainsburys thrown in - they do some decent tops that fit my long body.

SpecialLittleLady · 09/01/2016 19:50

I find them a nightmare for me but for the kids and husband they are great. They are nowhere as bad as H&M I have been known to fit size 10 upto 18 in their clothes on the same day

Such a relief to read this - I thought I was just me and my horriblyl weird shape!

I am one of those with a huge stomach/waist but relatively normal legs, but I still struggle to fit into their jeans. For a long time their 14 was too small, couldn't even get them over my (not fat) thighs, but the 16s were falling off. So bought a belt. Now that I've gained a bit of weight the 16s fit better, but still seem to ride down, so the belt is still required.

I'm top-heavy, so need even larger blouses and T-shirts (20 - 22) but I find the opposite to what most have said here - the sleeves are far too baggy, as are the necklines. They seem to have a belief that if you have big boobs or broad shoulders you must have a navvy's arms and a neck like a tree trunk as well. Some are cut so wide you can see my bra-straps, and they feel horrible - cold for a start, and every time I reach in them they slide off the shoulder.

I know I need to lose weight but it would be nice to have comfortable clothing to wear until I get down to a decent size. Mind you, it sounds like even then Next clothes won't fit properly. They never used to be like this, did they?

Op I have the same jeans as you - they felt right when I tried them on in the shop but went baggy on the waist immediately so now I rarely wear them as I'm constantly pulling them up! Even wearing a belt doesn't solve the problem as the tight fit on my thighs seems to drag the waist down

Hazelnut have you noticed anything strange when you take those black 'jeans' off?

They weigh a ton!
The material is a lot heavier, 'bulkier' and a thicker than normal jeans.
Plus, all the weight seems to be from the crotch up.
It seems to be a thinner material from the mid thighs down and thicker material from mid thigh up. Confused
It could explain the strange tightness on the legs - the material is thinner there.

You're about the fourth person on this thread who's said ''I had to buy a belt....''
Proof that Next are getting it wrong.

Coincidentally, even belted doesn't solve the problem. The jeans are still a rubbish fit.
They may be selling more belts, but they will be losing customers in the long run. Not a smart move.
