DANGEROUS Yeo Valley yogurt pots

Hello everyone. Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Denise, and I am a grandmother of three. I have registered with the site today, to warn parents of the hidden dangers of Yeo Valley yogurt pots. I use the word hidden, as after having contacted them about a serious cut to my grandsons tongue at Xmas, they wrote back and said they was aware of the situation with the sharp pots, but still have no intention of putting a warning on the packages. They then had the audacity to send me £2 in vouchers as a way of an apology! My 3 year old grandson simply licked the pot like children do. The problem is the extremely sharp plastic that's there once the pots are separated. This is clearly a case of putting profits before the welfare of their customers. SHAME ON YOU YEO VALLEY!

Yes please to the DM sad face - OP, please link to the article which will ostensibly be siding with you but in reality will be inviting readers to laugh at you when it's published.

And manufactures only have a duty of care when you are using the product for the purpose intended. Yoghurt pots are not intended for licking. Case dismissed

originalmavis · 08/01/2016 12:32

Try mopping up a whole bottle of olive oil.

StayWithMe · 08/01/2016 12:32

Actually, come to think of it, maybe grandmothers should come with a warning? Wink

SecretNutellaFix · 08/01/2016 12:33

This is the Ribena bottle I saw the warning on.

FairNotFair · 08/01/2016 12:33

WhatWould

Grin

It's a grim scenario

originalmavis · 08/01/2016 12:33

I'm thinking of maling some yogurt pot throwing stars (like they have in kung fu films).

HeadDreamer · 08/01/2016 12:34

Srsly?

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 08/01/2016 12:34

I can't believe anyone would be so outraged about a cut tongue that could of been prevented. Would actually email the company. That jaggy plastic is jaggy.

Perhaps stick to frubes.

Also reminds me of why shampoo has instructions on how to use it...

Albie20 · 08/01/2016 12:35

I cannot believe the insulting response that I have received from members of this site. I feel so sorry for your children having such self righteous parents such as yourselves. My intention was only to highlight the problem with the pots. The fact that my grandson licked is neither here nor there, it could just as well have been his finger or hand.....or don't any of your children hold yogurt pots either!!!

originalmavis I just read your post, squealed and actually rubbed my eye at the thought of it! Shock

honeysucklejasmine · 08/01/2016 12:35

I lick the lid of yogurts. But carefully, and mum never let me as a child. meanie

Ribena have those spiky bits round the inside of the neck don't they? Which would dig in like buggery when you try to remove your appendage. I wonder why they are there.

FairNotFair · 08/01/2016 12:35

YEO VALLEY: putting the "hurt" in "yoghurt" depending on how you spell it

HippyChickMama · 08/01/2016 12:35

Nothing to add but paper cut to the eyeball has made my knees go funny! Shock

dogvcatcat · 08/01/2016 12:36

first world problems eh.

PollyPerky · 08/01/2016 12:37

why do you need tell us your name and how many grandchildren you have Hmm?

Loads of things can cut if they are used incorrectly.

All yoghurt pots that come in packs and need pulling apart are risky.

Do you have a particular 'thing' against this company? It sounds like it.

StayWithMe · 08/01/2016 12:38

Sorry OP, we're not intending to be nasty, but as you can tell, most parents don't think a company is to blame if a product is used inappropriately. As for your comment about a child cutting their hand is pointless as that's not what happened.

originalmavis · 08/01/2016 12:38

I did scratch my eyeball when I got something stuck between it and a contact lens. Even my optician said 'eeewwwww, that's horrible!'.

It really really hurt. My sisters eyeball leaked eyeball juice once for no apparent reason.

SecretNutellaFix · 08/01/2016 12:38

This isn't insulting- what is insulting is that you are trying to put blame for your lack of supervision on other people.

I'm sure everyone could be insulting if we really tried. This is gentle pisstaking.

FairNotFair · 08/01/2016 12:39

I feel so sorry for your children

I always enjoy that one.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/01/2016 12:40

Ahhh the spiky bits round the inside of the Ribena lid, yes! I'd forgotten about those. Definitely not a good idea to stick your finger down there.

I don't know exactly why they're there but I would think it's to help the Ribena drip back down inside the bottle, instead of dripping down the outside. It's quite viscous, as squashes go, more so than many others; so more likely to dribble.

Albie20 · 08/01/2016 12:40

It's called being polite....'pollyperky'
