DANGEROUS Yeo Valley yogurt pots

Hello everyone. Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Denise, and I am a grandmother of three. I have registered with the site today, to warn parents of the hidden dangers of Yeo Valley yogurt pots. I use the word hidden, as after having contacted them about a serious cut to my grandsons tongue at Xmas, they wrote back and said they was aware of the situation with the sharp pots, but still have no intention of putting a warning on the packages. They then had the audacity to send me £2 in vouchers as a way of an apology! My 3 year old grandson simply licked the pot like children do. The problem is the extremely sharp plastic that's there once the pots are separated. This is clearly a case of putting profits before the welfare of their customers. SHAME ON YOU YEO VALLEY!

I got Rachel's today. Not sure how dangerous it is. And its Greek style.

Exactly RealHuman Grin

FairNotFair · 09/01/2016 14:23

I bought some Total today. It's in a ROUND tub. No scary corners.

I still filled in a Risk Assessment Form, just in case. I've printed off lots, and I keep them on the fridge door Smile

Does total not have the metal peel back lid anymore?

That metal kid is DANGEROUS! Sharp edges all the way round that sucker Shock

HoneyDragon · 09/01/2016 14:33

It's somewhat ironic that the safest yoghurt from corners of bloodshed, are Müller Corners.

WicksEnd · 09/01/2016 14:34

I feel like I should have shares in Yeo valley yoghurt. I eat it every day, lots of it, the Greek one. I've never taken any notice of this yeokens malarkey, what are they? I don't lick but I may on occasion stick my finger in the pot and I'm happy to report, all digits remain in tack

originalmavis · 09/01/2016 14:35

Total has that risky plastic film under the foil lid. You could choke on it.

RealHuman · 09/01/2016 14:37

Or, like me, forget it's there and have to suffer the psychological injury of having squirted honey all over a bloody decoy wax paper film. Three lids? Seriously, Fage? Three?!

Narp · 09/01/2016 14:46

It was always yoghurt when I was a girl

And doughnuts were doughnuts, not *donuts'

StandByYourTesselators · 09/01/2016 15:06

I stand firmly with the pot lickers. I am sure there's a scientific paper somewhere that proves that 15 percent of the yoghurt evades the spoon and remains in the pot due to poor pot design, and can only be mechanically retrieved with either finger or tongue.

And it's perfectly reasonable to not have the expectation that the yoghurt pot you pass to your toddler (who may also be a dyed-in-the-wool pot licker), might cause them an injury due to the unnecessarily sharp edge of the connecty bit. That bit by the way is made of a different material to the pot, and is clear and not opaque like the rest of the pot, and easy to miss - especially by people who've misplaced their glasses.

Narp · 09/01/2016 15:08

Standby)

I think that you should look out for the connecty bit (which, after all, you must have disconnected yourself) and if it is sharp, not pass it to your child. Any other way is NEGLIGENCE

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 09/01/2016 15:19

Ass kicker Metal kid? I would imagine that would be quite dangerous Grin

ElderlyKoreanLady · 09/01/2016 15:20

Completely sympathise OP. I was lapping up some soup directly from the can last week and sliced my tongue open. I told Heinz but they're not taking me seriously.

That bastard spoon shortage.

just kidding, I make my own soup

originalmavis · 09/01/2016 15:21

That's why you need a handy travel spork with you at all times.

FairNotFair · 09/01/2016 15:34

Sad

Naturally, I've binned the Total (after undertaking a Risk Assessment on the bin). It was a close-run thing. Nothing is safe any more [panic emoticon].

Asskicker · 09/01/2016 15:39

Forgot about the total in tub plastic!

That plastic papery film inside total is a bastard....a bastard I tell you!!!Angry

Asskicker · 09/01/2016 15:41

Metal kid? I would imagine that would be quite dangerous

and autocorrect is a bastard too!

I am going to sue.....urm who invented autocorrect?

originalmavis · 09/01/2016 15:49

DS once tried to eat a babybel, wax and all when he was about 2 years old. He had red teeth.

StitchesInTime · 09/01/2016 16:29

Really?? I have a 4 pack of Yeo Valley yoghurt (yummy lemon flavour) in the fridge, and the connecty bit is made of exactly the same material as the rest of the pot. The pot is all made of clear plastic, although I suppose the yoghurt inside might stick to the sides and make it look a bit less clear.

Unless they've only just changed the pot design, of course.......

SecretNutellaFix · 09/01/2016 16:31

I wasn't able to buy any yoghurts today as the only ones left there were the nasty low fat chemical filled ones and my asda doesn't stock the small pots of Yeo Valley. Buying a large tub for one person is a waste so I am yoghurtless.

originalmavis · 09/01/2016 16:33

I usually cut them apart when they come in 4s. Snapping them apart scares me and they never snap cleanly so you end up with 2 half open ones.

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/01/2016 16:37

My dog likes to take my empty LONGLEY FARM yoghurt pots out of the bin in the office and lick them clean.

Then shred them into small chewed up plastic pieces.

Should I stop him?

FairNotFair · 09/01/2016 17:11

Would you like one of my special Risk Assessment forms, Exit?

EmpressOfTheVulvaCupcakes · 09/01/2016 19:32

When I was a child I remember my DM explaining the danger of sharp edges on ring pulls.

Unfortunately she cut her finger while demonstrating, but it got the point across nicely and I don't think she felt the need for a DM sad face.

She didn't try licking it, though.

hufflebottom · 09/01/2016 20:16

I managed to avoid the dangerous yoghurt pots today at work. And not just the yeo valley ones!
