...is not always a compliment?
I get it regularly but pretty sure it's not always said in a "nice" way...

I was 19 when I was pregnant. I looked 15, and people reminded me of that frequently. Not fun Hmm

Now 21 and I look a little older (at least, I look 18 now) but I still sound like a child. I had a telephone interview for a job and they asked me how long I had left in school. Another interview told me "Unfortunately we can't take on anyone under 16". Their reaction when I told them I'm 21 was really something Grin

People never believe me when I tell them I'm 30. I had someone asking to see my birth certificate the other week 😄. I'm not complaining though. I get it from my dad. He's 64 looks great and is as fit as a fiddle.

I look young for my age and what I think its a problem when you are treated negatively because of it. People can often be rude or undermining if they think you are young and treat you with less respect.

My favourite time was when I took my children to see father Christmas in his grotto. My husband came who is ten years older. Father Christmas ushered us all in and said to me come and sit down. I thought he was just being friendly until he said to my husband and children, so where's mom? Has she gone shopping? I just looked at him and said I'm here! I know I look young but surely look old enough to not believe in Father Christmas!

When on placement I often get 'are you even old enough to be studying this? Is there anyone older' Yes I am in 25 don't be such a dick.

I've also been ID'd for the lottery Hmm

I'm 26 & a teacher. Nearly every lesson another teacher storms into my class demanding to know why they are left unsupervised & without their teacher. Somehow the fact I'm not wearing a blazer & school uniform is ignored. Everyone apologises when I identify myself as the teacher & say i "just look so young".

I have a three year old...sigh

I've been told I don't look old enough to be DD1's mum- but not in a nice way- more in a "Were you fucking about behind the bike sheds at school?" kinda way.

It certainly isn't always a compliment.

"Good for your age" is worse. What's wrong with "good"?

I look about 7 or 8 years younger than I am (early 40s) so not young enough to be patronised about my children or asked for ID, thankfully. I am aware though, that the reasons for my younger looks are oily skin and slight chub, do it's not all good.
