Gumtree- I want to meet in a public place

I'm selling an item, but don't want to give out my home address and don't want a stranger in my house. The buyer thinks I'm being unreasonable because I've said I'll meet them nearby but not at my house. AIBU?

I would only meet in a public place if payment went through PayPal, that way I have proof of buying the item and PayPal knows who the person is and where they live. I can alway start a dispute with PayPal as well.

Id be suspicious if I were the buyer.

I wouldn't deal with you in that case. I'd be worried it was stolen.
