Jumping all over the sofas, running around... mums completely ignoring them. No discipline at all.

Come on, at least one of you must be on here. Defend yourselves!

Well it's alright for you dino, you get a replacement meal free of charge if some kinds send it flying it's the cafe stuck with the cost of replacement food and some ones dry cleaning bill

It's really not that bad though is it?

Do you run around in cafes and jump on other people's sofas?

Or do you think that if kids do it, it's suddenly not as dangerous and likely to cause damage as if an adult did it?

Yes they're only kids, but that's the very reason the adults in charge should have taken charge.

Did it by any chance advertise itself as a 'family friendly' restaurant? This seems to mean, to a certain type of person, that their kids can take over the bloody place.

We went to a 'Family Mass' on Christmas Eve. This apparently meant that children as old as 9 and 10 could climb in and out of the crib, and an idiot father could join in sending his toddler daughter into angry shrieks of 'no, daddy, get back in' whenever he climbed out. This game went on for ages as everyone around struggled to hear the Mass.

When an irate elderly lady eventually made her displeasure unknown the father took his toddler outside and the mother of the older children didn't even bother to react.

Yes, it is that bad.

But if you're the type to think it's ok well...

We love Lyme park but it wasn't my kids as the older ones are at school and the baby is too little to run around so he was snoozing at home whilst I took down the Xmas decks.

Jumping on the sofas is that bad though. I'd be v cross if my two pulled a stunt like that. Only they wouldn't, because I would be supervising them. I'm definitely a lax parent, and I'm fine with giggling and low level messing, but not if it is full on RAH RAH RAH LOOK AT US!!!!! carryon.

Why didn't i say anything to the mums? I would have if it were my sofas the kids were jumping on. I couldn't be arsed to go and reprimand a group of mums on behalf of the national trust. Why should i?

I posted it on here because i thought it would be funny to see if any of the mums saw the thread and responded to it.

To the people who think kids running around a cafe is acceptable - you're obviously just like the mums I'm referring to.

For future reference, this is what you could say to the useless Mums in a sympathetic yet judgily loaded tone of voice: "You HAVE got your hands full there, haven't you?"

(What a lady on a till said to me once when I was shopping with 3 kids under 6 and they were behaving atrociously).

Must admit, when my kids (I have 5) were younger, I'd seek out cafes, places for day trips etc that were child friendly just so I didn't inflict my kids on innocent passersby. Now they are older, I seek out cafes, days out etc where there are minimal kids. Pisses me right off if I'm in a nice cafe and someone has out of control kids, and ignores them causing havoc because it's not really hard to either make your kids considerate, or just take them where no-one else gives a toss.

There's a fab adventure playground at Lyme Park. They should take them in there rather than putting staff and other customers at risk - it's not a big cafe and there's an outdoor bit that kids can run around in more safely. Sorry you had a crappy experience. Hope the rest of the park didn't disappoint.

But if anyone's looking for the parent of the badly behaved brats children in Shrewsbury McDonalds earlier that's me Blush

Tbh the mood I'm in right that could have been me if I had been at Lyme Park today.

Poor mothers, probably fucking knackered after being off with the brats for 2 weeks.

Is Lyme Park the one with the deer?

Not mine but I had a similar scenario in a garden centre restaurant a couple of weeks ago while I was queuing to get food. I left my lunch, paid for the DCs' lunch boxes and took them home in disgrace :o

I was just about to post a thread on here to ask who was the stoney faced misery in the cafe today with the impeccably behaved (and therefore clearly repressed and creatively-thwarted) stepford children.
Mine had a glorious time - thank you for asking. they used the sofa to reenact a Viking sail boat. I agree pillaging the cake stand was a teeny bit naughty but the waitress seemed to take it with good grace.
