AIBU to think that menthol has no business being anywhere near my lady parts!

That is all.... As you were...

I couldn't get any unscented ones in asda. It was an emergency as I came on on Christmas Day and only had a few left in my bathroom so had to head out on Boxing Day. I ended up buying those expensive new fancy always ones but I'm not a fan of them since nowhere else was open. My favourite ones are boots own brand.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/01/2016 18:04

No one has used that awful term "sanpro" yet which is the main thing....

You just did Shock So did I Shock

hiddenhome2 · 03/01/2016 18:17

Who the hell decided to make them smell?

Men?

I opened lots of packets of pads in Sainsburys the other week in my quest to find some unscented ones. You can't tell just by sniffing the outside of the packet.

9 times out of 10 I end up having to buy maternity pads (thin ones) from my local Tesco because they only ever have frigging scented liners. I can get unscented at my local chemist but they cost a fortune.

Coldlightofday · 03/01/2016 18:47

The ideal of course, ladeeez, is that we all shave off all the hair and make our fannies smell like they are made of nice pretty flowers. So as to be properly feminine for the menfolk.

I think I've read somewhere that you can even get scented tampons!

I mean, who really thinks this is a good idea?

Or is it more the case of someone deciding on creating these and then advertising to persuade women they really, really need them?

QueenLaBeefah · 03/01/2016 20:23

Are these companies determined to create an epidemic of thrush/cystitis/BV?

The NHS should start billing them.

kittyvet · 03/01/2016 20:24

Same problem here- unable to find any unscented ones in local tesco or local sainsbury recently with first period in 2 years..what happened whilst I was pregnant :(
Will be looking into the mooncup I think!

sugar21 · 03/01/2016 20:28

Well you know that menthol unblocks noses ..........the mind boggles

megletthesecond · 03/01/2016 20:31

Is it really that bad these days? Sad l. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago so am totally out of the loop with these things. It's going to be nightmare hunting down non-scented when dd is older.

TimeToMuskUp · 03/01/2016 20:35

DH once shaved his balls then washed them in that original source minty stuff. We were staying in a hotel on a romantic night away from the DCs. He spent 90% of the afternoon dangling his nut sack in the sink. Which is precisely how every tale of romance begins.

UndramaticPause · 03/01/2016 20:49

meglet lilets do a teenagers range which is smaller (to fit young girls undies) and not scented

Penfold007 · 03/01/2016 20:49

TimeTo No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Shock

megletthesecond · 03/01/2016 21:41

Thanks undram. I need to do a recce in Boots and have a look at what's out there.

FairyFluffbum · 03/01/2016 21:46

I've always thought scented products smell worse than the blood itself.

I picked some cushell toilet paper once. Didn't realise till I got it home it was scented!

Why the fuck do I want scented bog roll?!

It reeked the bathroom out. Never bought it again

FairyFluffbum · 03/01/2016 21:49

Re unscented pads..

I use always infinity with their copyright "inficel" technology Hmm

They are dear but worth it. Most pads give me a rash.
They are the only ones that don't

Or didn't since I now have the coil and don't bleed Grin

NotSayingImBatman · 03/01/2016 21:50

I always assumed the towels were scented because the blood starts to smell once it's outside the body, not because vulvas smell.

Fizzielove · 03/01/2016 21:53

Timeto you have made me spray my coffee all over myself!! Seriously funny! How did you keep a straight face??Grin

I saw in Boots yesterday that you can still buy Dr Whites looped towels to be worn with a belt. Who the fuck buys/wears these? I'm 50 and have always used stick on pads.

coughingbean · 03/01/2016 22:06

Fairy, my DP keeps buying scented toilet roll, drives me potty, so to speak Confused

dementedma · 03/01/2016 22:10

I once used dh's Original Source Minty Shaving Gel for a quick tidy up of the nethers. Twas tingly and very nice

kali110 · 03/01/2016 23:13

I always use the scented pads.
I've never had a problem with them.
Half my friends use them too so people so use them.

RaspberryOverload · 06/01/2016 19:54

kali110 Problem with using scented pads, is not just the itching, etc issues mentioned here, but quite a few other people can smell the "floral" scent and know that means you're on your period

There are at least 3 women in my current office who wear these, and I don't have the heart to tell them I can smell the pads and their cheap scent.
