Ebayer using my pictures

To be brief, sold some shoes on eBay at the end of last year. Got a good fair price and great feedback for them. This morning I've seen them re listed, nothing wrong in that, but using my original pictures. The seller obviously has two accounts for buying and selling. The 'back story' to the shoes has been embroidered too! This may sound petty of me but I feel annoyed that they've used my pictures, taken with shoes on my chair in my home. What are pps opinions of this?

RhiWrites........ No it doesn't. If you click that option on someone else's listing it keeps the categories ect the same, but removes the description and photos, for copyright reasons, as discussed.

However, if you click it on your OWN listing the description and photos will remain in place.

I've done this twice when I bought an item which I subsequently decided to resell without using / wearing it. But I asked the seller of the original item if I could use their photos and they said it was fine.

Is it right? No.

Is it a big deal? No.

Of the many photos on the internet, I find a picture of shoes sold a few months previously not taken by the seller, something very hard to get riled about.

Truth is they may have found the shoes didn't fit/suit.They may well have not worn them, in which case they are the exact same as when they were bought.

Yes they should have contacted you and asked permission to use the photo, but it is hardly a great injustice that they didn't.

Its probably a completely different ebayer to the person you sold to, They would more than likely have got the photo off google images.

Is it even a few months ago? End of last year was 3 days ago Grin

I sold a jumper on ebay a couple of weeks ago and noticed today that the buyer had re-listed it - with far inferior photos and was thinking she should have just used mine which showed the item off in a much better way.

I wouldn't have minded a bit, I was just relieved that she didn't ask to return for a refund Xmas Grin

Wouldn't bother me, but if you don't like it complain.

I'm a working mum who just sells items on, that I've bought, that either no longer fit or suit me. I just wanted to state this. I'm an honest low item seller, with excellent feedback, who gives an honest description of my items and in turn is very particular regarding the condition of anything I should buy. Yes, I've disappointed at times but probably because of my own expectations. I sold these shoes as unworn (bought from outlet and really too big) and sold them as such, including pictures of the soles. My pictures now appear with the item I sold, minus the picture of the soles, as brand new. If they really want to sell on, I have no problem or grief with this but I'm not happy about MY original pictures being used. AIBVU?

No, you're not being unreasonable.

At t he very least they ought to have asked your permission.

I have at times offered someone the right to use my pictures if I have sold them something which they then didn't like or it didn't fit them.

The fact that this particular buyer has chosen deliberately to mislead their own buyers is what would make me want their listing removed. I wouldn't care so much about the images; it's that they are lying, and you know about it, and that's really low.

Pipistrella · 03/01/2016 12:35

I mean it's low of them, not you.

Leelu6 · 03/01/2016 12:43

You're within your rights to complain about your pics. But just because they haven't included a pic of the soles does not mean the shoes have been worn.

It doesn't sound like this person has had much of a chance to wear them anyway, if you sold them at the end of 2015?

And surely they wouldn't be stupid enough to list them as brand new if the soles are worn? They are just going to have to refund the next buyer if they do that.
