To think it's a bit gross if you're going out straight after the gym and don't shower first?

I've noticed this with a few friends at my gym - they do a fairly intense class like Body Pump or spinning and then afterwards get dressed, reapply their makeup or straighten their hair, and then head out the door without even a face wash or spritz of deodorant! I've even seen one woman use the hair dryer on cool setting to dry off the sweat on her body! Am I the only one who thinks its not that hard to put on some flip flops and nip into the shower for a couple of minutes?

Eww they are grim, they'll be wondering why they can't get a date when the man get close. PU.
I used to drive the 5 minutes home and shower after a good workout, on a rare day I'd stop to grab milk on the way.

WitchWay · 02/01/2016 20:03

sorry Brenda - that was regarding the Glasgow shower Grin

Naicecuppatea · 02/01/2016 20:03

I couldn't do that either as I would be pouring with sweat and feel and look manky. I can't wait to shower after running or spinning. I would judge people who were obviously going out afterwards for a social night out, but not those who prefer to shower at home than at the gym.

MingZillas · 02/01/2016 20:06

God I hate the 'why do you care' comments. It's a chat forum ffs where people express opinions. Hence op suggesting a quick shower after a workout is not BU.

I think going 'out, out' after going to the gym and not having a shower is a bit grimy.

museumum · 02/01/2016 20:08

Maybe they're not going out but are the type to need make up / straightened hair just to walk home?

Alicewasinwonderland · 02/01/2016 20:12

it's disgusting!

I can understand if you prefer to have a shower at home, but not having one at all? Yuk

I already don't understand girls who have to wear make-up to exercise, so shouldn't be surprised if some can't walk out without something on their face. It just sounds so bizarre, how can you have so little self confidence? How can you feel comfortable when you stink?

jorahmormont · 02/01/2016 20:13

Think of the poor people around you in the supermarket who can smell you. And yes, they can smell you. Blurgh

DeepBlueLake · 02/01/2016 20:28

Thats gross. I am a very sweaty person though and easily stink of B.O after a workout.

I normally work out in the morning before work so always have a shower at the gym.

I would feel manky too, unless going home you need to have some personal hygiene.

blueshoes · 02/01/2016 20:57

I would not change into clean clothes without showering. However, after my zumba class, in which I don't really sweat, I may nip into the supermarket in my gym gear, covered by a fleece if cold, before going home to shower and change. My face might be flushed but that's it, I think. Hopefully, that does not offend anyone.

I've never showered or changed at the gym. I pop to the supermarket and do errands in town and walk home carrying all my bags, thereby getting sweaty again. Much easier to shower at home.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 02/01/2016 21:17

We haven't had a thread about Fango drying in ages! I miss those days

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/01/2016 21:21

I shower after working out. However, some people sweat lots and some people less. New sweat doesn't smell, old sweat reeks. If you stink of BO after a class either you, or your clothes, weren't clean before the class. Sorry.

Kayakinggirl86 · 02/01/2016 22:02

If I am not doing anything but going home to clean the house/cook dinner/ put children to bed I will not bother getting out of gym/running kit. Just don't seen the point!
However if I am going out or heading to work or meeting friends I will always make the most of showers and decent mirrors to make my self look and feel decent.

Kayakinggirl86 · 02/01/2016 22:03

Know feeling I should change before walking out of the gym as I am being judged!

Doobigetta · 02/01/2016 22:04

Gym sweat doesn't smell like "been at work and on public transport all day" sweat, but I still wouldn't go home afterwards without showering first, and DEFINITELY not anywhere else. I don't wash my hair though, I'd be there all night so that can wait until the next shower I have at home.

You would hate me op. We have horses. I sometimes go to yard, sweat a bit, get covered in horsehair, mud and sometimes horseshit. Sometimes I bath them so also smell of wet horse, sweat, shit and be wet and muddy. Then I go to tescos.

As long as I am not sat on your sofa why worry?

knobblyknee · 02/01/2016 22:08

Maybe they have verrucas and are being socially responsible...

Rosa · 02/01/2016 22:09

i walk to the gym and the extra towel, soap, flip plops, hair brush, drier ( as they gym one is rubbish) in the bag gets heavy so I just pull on my track suit and bung on a cap and get home, then shower. If very sweaty in summer I change my t shirt !!!

DrDreReturns · 02/01/2016 22:11

As long as you shower once a day I can't see the problem. Sometimes I'll go to the gym, then do stuff around the house and have a shower later on.
Having said that I'd always shower before going on a night out!

sparklewater · 02/01/2016 22:18

I go home and shower, often via shops, school run, whatever. I don't sweat very much - esp if doing weights - so it doesn't really bother me.

Would never go out for evening like that though!

WitchWay · 02/01/2016 22:19

Yeah sparkle it's the going out thing that's the problem here - bleeurgh

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 02/01/2016 22:58

Hurrah, someone mentioned fanjo drying!
