Storing toilet cleaning bottles next to the loo?

Am i the only one who dislikes seeing an array of toilet cleaning and bleach bottles next to the loo or on top of the cistern when i go to someone else's house?

Well this is very twee and busybodyish.

Why do you think you have a right to an opinion on what happens in other people's houses? Confused

ByThePrickingOfMyThumbs · 30/12/2015 19:09

Mine are in a locked cupboard because I don't want the DCs near them. But pre kids they were by the loo.

Italiangreyhound · 30/12/2015 19:10

We have them on top of the bathroom cupboard - out of reach. DS is 5.

laurierf · 30/12/2015 19:13

Out of sight is out of mind - I leave cleaning products in a conspicuous place so I'm not the only one who uses them.

TattyDevine · 30/12/2015 19:14

Ideally they'd be stored in a cupboard. Mine are. Because i have a cupboard in each bathroom. If I didn't - I probably wouldn't want to go to a different room to get them.

Definitely worse crimes in my opinion! I don't like clutter. But more important than clutter is the cleanliness. If you can be clean and clutter free, great. If not clean is priority.

I don't have a suitable cupboard in the bathroom and I don't want my cleaner wasting time taking products out of another cupboard and then putting them back.

IrenetheQuaint · 30/12/2015 19:17

Until joining MN I didn't appreciate the enormous popularity of shameless judging as a hobby. It's a bit depressing, actually.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2015 19:20

Everyone justifying their choice of toilet cleaner storage is quite weird even for AIBU.

fidel1ne · 30/12/2015 19:21

I leave it out because then If someone goes and leaves a massive mess in my loo they can at least use it to clean it up!

I don't use bleaches though. Just method Eco cleaner because it smells minty.

BathshebaDarkstone · 30/12/2015 19:25

Oh Homer I hope your tongue was firmly in your cheek then! Grin

Dipankrispaneven · 30/12/2015 19:26

YABU. I really don't care what it looks like, so far as I'm concerned my loo is there to be used, not to be admired as an aesthetic object.

intothewoods · 30/12/2015 19:29

I'm with you OP, think it looks horrible. Mine are kept in a cupboard next to the bathroom.

Behooven · 30/12/2015 19:30

I keep a bottle behind the toilet brush so I'm double trouble

honeyroar · 30/12/2015 19:33

I never fail to be astounded by what offends people on here.

Ours live by the side oft the he loo. To be honest, I'd be amazed if anyone in our house would be bothered. By the time you've got past all the DIY that needs doing or all the dog hair and dust I think cleaning products are the least of the problems in the asthetics dept. Blush

BatsUpMyNightie · 30/12/2015 19:34

I don't believe I have ever given a second's thought to how other people conduct their lives with regard to bottles of toilet cleaner. How on earth can anyone give a shit about this? Shock

honeyroar · 30/12/2015 19:36

Lol, my post should say the loo not the he loo - sounds like we have his and hers toilets!

BatsUpMyNightie · 30/12/2015 19:36

YY honey - absolutely Grin

And if I visit someone's house I am mindful that I am using their bathroom to have a piss not take stock of their housekeeping systems. Truly - the mind boggles.

RubyWoooo · 30/12/2015 19:46

I keep mine in a very fetching wicker type white storage box. Tucked away down the side of the toilet.

I'd rather go to someone's house and see cleaning products - it reassures me they take pride in a shiny bog Grin

is this the new toilet brush debate?

roundaboutthetown · 30/12/2015 19:47

Is it just me, or does anyone else hate staying overnight in the houses of people who inexplicably hide their toilet cleaning materials? Grin I think saving guests from potential embarrassment is far more important than some weird aversion to the appearance of bottles of cleaning fluid. Is this the same sort of personality that would choose to cover a toilet roll with a doll in a knitted dress? Grin Grin

GoldPlatedBacon · 30/12/2015 19:49

My landlord didn't think about putting any storage in our bathroom and I can't be arsed to walk to the kitchen where they could be stored so the loo cleaner, bleach and bathroom cleaner are stored next to the loo.

taratiger22 · 30/12/2015 19:51

op, looks like I could use your help on my thread here

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 30/12/2015 19:51

Huh? Confused Where do you store your toilet cleaning products then?

If anyone's interested (why would they be?), the bleach in the downstairs loo can be found on the window sill & the bathroom cleaning products upstairs are on a shelf near the loo.

I don't like clutter either, but never considered that my toilet bleach was clutter.

Every day's an education on MN Grin.

Junosmum · 30/12/2015 19:54

Mine are in the bathroom cabinet, less stuff on display the better as far as I'm concerned.

OSETmum · 30/12/2015 19:55

You'd hate mine, I have cleaning products down one side and a toilet brush down the other! At least it shows I clean...
