to use some of the same pods twice? (tassimo owners)

BogeyBrain · 29/12/2015 09:51

We got a tassimo drinks machine for Christmas. We were/are thrilled as we have used it non stop since Christmas day. Grin

I do wonder though, with cappuccinos and English tea's, whether I'd be stingy to try to use the same pod twice?
Or is it barmy? One pod per drink, no questions asked? Wink

Light hearted despite curiosity.

You're so shocked you felt the need to start a thread name change? Hmm

Kaytee1987 · 29/12/2015 10:55

I like how Namechangedec15 is deciding what would be easier for a disabled person she's never met Hmm

Minisoksmakehardwork · 29/12/2015 10:56

The only time I'd try to use a second time is for topping up the same cup. If they're anything like the hot chocolate, there's next to nothing left after the first run through.

Ledkr · 29/12/2015 10:56

I have a one cup boiler in my room for my early tea then I have coffee from the evil pod machine when I go downstairs.

I am not a cliche but I have a broken arm.

Ledkr · 29/12/2015 10:57

Has she started a thread? Hahahahahaha

PurpleHairAndPearls · 29/12/2015 10:58

"Maybe if someone has a disability that means they need to use wasteful stuff for a decent quality of life they should be exempt from the tax"

God you really are a sanctimonious twat aren't you?

PurpleHairAndPearls · 29/12/2015 10:59

No, it's definitely still a bit shit, sorry Grin

I'll look for the recycling link.

StrictlyMumDancing · 29/12/2015 10:59

I got lost. Is it all the pods that are wasteful or just the tea ones? I'm confused Confused

Grin
FairysChuff · 29/12/2015 11:00

I love my Tassimo !

I'm also disabled & can't use a kettle, seems there are a few of us Brew

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 29/12/2015 11:01

It wouldn't taste nice but it would work

Cant decide which item makes my life the best, the tassimos, the free car or the not queuing to use the ladies Grin

Arsehole.

differentnameforthis · 29/12/2015 11:14

I highly doubt these tea pods are used mainly for the disabled Pp didn't say that, she said she finds it easier because of her disabilities.

TenTinyTadpoles · 29/12/2015 11:22

Namechange we have a tassimo machine in the study, the bedroom and the kitchen. It's wonderful.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 29/12/2015 11:23

Unless you either don't open the machine and carry on running the hot water through or can line up the puncture hole exactly I don't see how it can be used again. I put one in and then left it too long to run so had to reopen the machine lid and close again and when it started up the coffee grounds spilled out all round the edges and made an awful mess.

BogeyBrain · 29/12/2015 11:26

Thank you for all of your replies... with the exception of namechanges reply

I love using the tea pods and the hot chocolate pods - I hate coffee buy DH loves it. He isn't going to have all the fun using it because namechange thinks it's wasteful. Wink

I won't be using the same pod twice, as advised - but will definitely consider the teabag and the cleaning disc. GrinBrew

OP posts:
FairysChuff · 29/12/2015 11:31

I didn't find the water hot enough for tea with the cleaning disc BogeyBrain but I do like quite a strong cuppa.

I think there is a boiling hot water disc on the website, it's been a while since I looked so not sure if they still do them.

SistersOfPercy · 29/12/2015 11:34

I use the tea pods. Why? Because they make a nice cup of tea. Grin

Queenbean · 29/12/2015 11:36

Love this thread!

TooShyShyHushHush · 29/12/2015 11:47

I run the espresso ones twice to make a fuller cup.

I have the disc for hot water and that was a godsend when my kettle packed in.

I'm currently obsessed with a little glorified shed garden office and will take my tassimo with me if I do get one!

violetbunny · 29/12/2015 11:49

No, because the second coffee will be over extracted. Plus the later part of the extraction is usually where the bitter taste notes come through, so it's not going to taste especially nice.

Groovee · 29/12/2015 12:28

Why are some posters so judgemental Confused.

Just because we are disabled doesn't mean we are wasteful!

BigChocFrenzy · 29/12/2015 12:31

I had a tassimo Mocha at a friend's, v nice. Recipe with optional boozy holiday version too.

girlguide123 · 29/12/2015 12:43

thanks for the link to the charity Purple and I'm glad you are pleased with your machine and find it helpful.

when we had our new kitchen I was interested in the pod machines, but was put off because you don't seem to be able to recycle the used pods. (my filter paper & coffee grounds go in the food waste bin). but it's very interesting to hear that people can make use of them after all Grin

StrictlyMumDancing · 29/12/2015 12:52

Other than purples very decent cause site, there's also this:

tassimo brigade

We have a few points round our way from this site and have recycled all our tassimo bits for years now.
