About Argos and their lying!

Long story short, my Fitbit doesn't charge anymore so DH took it back to Argos. The woman behind the till agreed to refund it but she had a long look at it first, bent the strap back and broke it.

They are refusing to refund it because they are saying that the damaged strap might have been causing the battery problems.

THEY BROKE THE STRAP! I'm gobsmacked tbh. We have asked the manager to review the CCTV but he hasn't given us much hope that anything will be done.

AIBU? Surely they should refund or at least agree to fix it.

Yes. I sent them an email and they replaced it no problem. They could tell it wasn't being used anymore.

How long have you had the item?

Depends what it is doesn't it and how long you've had it for.

Tweets etc. from nutters are blocked and deleted and most of these would be done.

It depends how long you have had the item for!

rosewithoutthorns · 29/12/2015 21:47

The OP hasn't said how long she had it for.

rosewithoutthorns · 29/12/2015 21:53

I work for customer services and have heard it all.... I work within reasonable amounts of time and usage, know legalities and certainly do not rise to threats :)

This isn't a question of time/usage. It could have been, but Argos invalidated that the moment they caused damage then claimed the damage was causing problems that existed prior to the damage.

rosewithoutthorns · 29/12/2015 23:12

Yeah ok strictly :) the argos employee snapped it just like that then, of course they did. the person that brought it in obviously never put it back together hoping this happened?

The OP still won't say how long they had it for. The suggestion of it no longer charging to me means quite a while.

Whether it be argos or where-ever, that doesn't matter. People that threaten and send me abuse get treated by the book. People that are cordial get that bit extra.

Why would it matter quiet, I deal with customer services. Who do you work for? Grin

rosewithoutthorns · 29/12/2015 23:25

If someone is aggressive then I will work to rule. If someone is nice then I will go the extra mile to help them.

Eminado · 29/12/2015 23:28

Yeah ok strictly smile the argos employee snapped it just like that then, of course they did. the person that brought it in obviously never put it back together hoping this happened?

Wow Rose you are calling the OP a liar. That's pretty strong.

Just because you work in customer service doesnt make you a walking lie detector Confused

StrictlyMumDancing · 29/12/2015 23:29

Are you accusing the OP of blatantly lying rose?

I had a fitbit charge - the model pictured - it stopped charging after 3 weeks. In fact the charge has a massive reputation for it.

Though the OP hasn't been back on this thread the longest she's owned this is 8 months, as the blue charge only started being sold in April 2015 if that satisfies your curiosity. Not long enough to not be charging in any sense, and over 6 months the first response would have been 'go to manufacturer'.

I neither work for Argos nor am I naive thank you very much quiet.

Electrical good are changed within a years warranty, no questions asked, so I'm not sure what the poster is up to, to be honest.

rosewithoutthorns · 29/12/2015 23:37

Yes, countless un-called for vitriol on twitter is sent from nutters or "keyboard warriors without a life" as we call them. They are blocked and deleted.

rosewithoutthorns · 29/12/2015 23:39
Eminado · 29/12/2015 23:39

"I neither work for Argos nor am I naive thank you very much "

But you are quite happy to call someone a liar with no proof at all?

StrictlyMumDancing · 29/12/2015 23:40

Electrical good are changed within a years warranty, no questions asked, so I'm not sure what the poster is up to, to be honest.

Where does this happen? I've never once - even in Argos, even only owning the item for a matter of days - had a faulty electrical item exchanged no questions asked without someone giving it a good look over.
