Our OOH doctor's number has changed so we now have to ring up 111 to be transferred.
I've been trying to get through since yesterday 3pm Confused

Fuck's sake.

Yanbu at all

I had the same issue last week whilst trying to arrange a gp appt for a patient.

Not good enough imo.

Lever Chambers closed a couple of years ago - It's the one I referred to earlier.

The links you've given hollinhurst will both require the OP to phone 111 for triage.

hollinhurst84 · 27/12/2015 18:51

Ah bugger. My area is the same now Sad
They're just getting battered by calls

It's odd - I've just started work (in a pharmacy) and it's been quiet all day!

No help to you at all but i had to phone 111 on Christmas Day (about 9pm ish) for my DMum, they answered very quickly, the phone call took a while (they ask loads of questions) they dispatched an Ambulance and she was taken to A&E.

We got home about 2am (with DMum)

Only snag was they were unable in A&E to issue a Prescription and my GP surgery was shut on Saturday, (my parents don't live local).
We were able to get an emergency prescription from our local Pharmacy (we had the Discharge Letter) until she sees her own GP.

It's a sobering experience in A&E on Christmas Day but we are all very grateful for their collective care. (Will write letter to what used to be PALS)

Not sure of this is relevant but the non emergency number of 101 is down and has been all day... Which is a national problem, So possibly a lot of people maybe phoning the 111 number instead?

KinkyAfro · 27/12/2015 21:52

Trafford general walk in is open 08.00-20.00 everyday and not too far if it's an emergency. I live in Urmston but work in Bolton, takes about 15-20 mins in the car

If it's a regular prescription, a local pharmacy might be able to issue enough to cover you until you can get to a GP.

Some pain meds (eg co-codamol, co-dydramol, topical diclofenac) are available OTC at weaker doses, too. Unless you're taking something as heavy duty as tramadol or oramorph, you should be able to get hold of something to bridge the gap, even if they're not perfect.
