Knocked blind on floor

My husband has no pride in our house. I very rarely ask him to do DIY but he's off work for 2 weeks so I asked him if he would mind putting up kitchen blind. He super glued the end of it & left it on kitchen counter to dry. I opened microwave door & removed hot dish. The dish was burning & I accidentally knocked blind on floor. I apologised for my clumsiness immediately. AIBU to be upset that he looked at me with such hate in his eyes like he wished I was dead?
I know he wouldn't treat anyone else like that over an accident & blind is fine

YANBU to be upset that he looked at you like that? Is he always a dick?

And WHY is he superglueing a blind?

Ilikeminitwirls · 27/12/2015 17:00

I ordered the blind from Amazon. It's a lovely blue colour but with a horrible patterned bit that wasn't shown on Amazon picture so I chopped border off ( he said that wasn't a problem).
He's been acting odd for last 12 months...maybe midlife crisis. I just know I would never look at him like that

Ynbu. But its Nothing to do with a mid life crisis. Don't be making excuses for him being such an arse. What did he think was going to happen when he put up the blind with super glue, wtf does that.

mintoil · 27/12/2015 17:04

Have you tried having out with him? Asking what is wrong? If he won't communicate there's a real problem.

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2015 17:09

This has to be about more than the blind.

Are you able to talk to each other openly?

Ilikeminitwirls · 27/12/2015 17:14

He says he feels depressed but doesn't know why. I've tried talking to him but he is very closed and distant towards me. I think a lot ( not all) middle aged men find aging difficult & turn into miserable bastards. He looks pretty good as he goes to the gym everyday but I know he's not happy losing his hair

This isn't about a blind. Are you happy to live with someone who you would even think would look at you like he wished you were dead?

How long has he been going to the gym every day?

How long has he been fussing about his hair?

Libitina · 27/12/2015 17:31

Only on MN could the posters go from a kitchen blind to 'he's having an affair'. All on the first page too.

WhereYouLeftIt · 27/12/2015 17:32

Probably something to do with the "he looked at me with such hate in his eyes like he wished I was dead" in the OP, Libitina.

Ilikeminitwirls · 27/12/2015 17:38

This distancing/angry/dissatisfaction with looksbehaviour has been going on for a year since he started a new job. He works all hours, I hardly see him. He is also very sad. I wonder if he has had an affair & now it's ended...I just don't know & he's not likely to tell me.
Yes he has passcode on his phone but most people do now. He does take his phone everywhere but so do I & I have nothing to hide. We both have elderly parents who are prone to falling so we need to be contactable
I know something is wrong but he won't open up. Just see what 2016 brings I suppose Confused

My DH and I have pass codes on our phones, but we both know what each other's are.

MillionToOneChances · 27/12/2015 17:58

^ All phones are passcoded but where there's nothing to hide the passcode isn't usually a secret. I routinely log in to my sister and my best friend's phones, my kids log in to mine. Can you log in to his if you need to?

My ex used to look at me like that. It was a symptom of how he felt about me generally, and he eventually left me. You deserve better than to be with someone who looks at you like that.

specialsubject · 27/12/2015 17:58

if you made that comment about middle-aged women you'd be roasted alive here.

no, not all middle-aged men turn into miserable bastards. If the one you sleep with has, you need to find out why. Depression? Affair? Illness? Money worries?

it won't be solved unless you talk. He needs to talk, not sulk, or at least agree to get help if that is what is needed.

Ilikeminitwirls · 27/12/2015 18:03

Thanks specialist we don't sleep together anymore
I think aging is difficult for both sexes, I wasn't having a go at men.
He has been to GP and asked for councilling but then not pursued it as too busy with work
