Petty I know but sat down for a drink with dd in Selfridges today. When bill came they added £1 for Centrepoint charity. Aibu to want to decide which charity I'd like to donate to if any? Didn't complain as just a pound but on thinking about it surely should be optional?

ThanksABetaDad1. That really does stink then, as the idea's not even coming from he right reasons. They're heading for a tiny tax bill then as the place was heaving...

I agree with you. That's unacceptable. A local shop asks if you'd like to round up to donate to their chosen charity, I always say yes but I'd be annoyed if it was just put on the bill.

This fucks me off, my local petrol garage does it and there is no sign telling you what charity it's for, just do you want to add £1 when using the card machine.
The service charge/tip pisses me off too because it makes me seem like a bitch when I ask for it to be removed. i will decide if I leave a tip and how much! Harvey nicks added 12.5% to my drinks bill at the bar so the barman hadn't served us at a table, had taken 15 minutes to notice us and we were already paying the best part of £10 each for a juice. Beggars belief.

when i have the energy , i explain that i do my donating to the Salvation Army and is that who they are donating to? Never had a yes. Also how do we know if the $$ is being donated wholly as given?
