Wanted to go for a walk...but it never stopped raining.

So we decided to go to the pub....and it was torrential.

So we've watched the goggle box!

Humph!

Dowser · 26/12/2015 18:06

Oh and every hour we've checked on our leaky blimmin roof!

YouTheCat · 26/12/2015 18:09

Went to the cinema to watch Star Wars. Was very quiet.

Just gone to warm up yesterday's leftovers for supper to discover the parcel with enough for two that I gave to DPs to take home this morning was actually the one meant for the rest of us and we have about 5 roasties and a handful of veg left for the four of us. DPs have eaten the lot. I could cry.

Had a very late night last night so today is very lazy, went for a walk with DH, teens didn't want to come. Came home and put out a leftover spread, watched Jurassic park, fell asleep. Bliss

VaticanAssassin · 26/12/2015 18:42

Boring Boxing Day here too- DH took our DDs out to spend the vouchers they received, DS has played happily with his new games, and I'm on sofa with cheese and red wine, watching re-runs of Red Dwarf on Netflix.

It's bloody brilliant Grin

slept late, brunch, took toddler DD to park with DH, lunch out, cleaned bathroom during nap time in anticipation of guests next week, raked leaves outside "helped" by DD, cooked bubböle and squeak for dinner, MN-ing - considering tv/doing puzzle with DH/early night.

ate chocolate all day

HoundPaws · 26/12/2015 19:18

Went to the Boxing Day hunt meet!

Sansoora · 26/12/2015 20:07

Its been a really nice lazy day. Nothing on the cards till the children came at 5pm for a swim then Turkey and stuffing sandwiches with mince pies and yule log washed down with tea for afters.

Then my (estranged) husbands nephew came into visit me for an hour. He likes to keep and eye on me and make sure Im ok and I love him for it. We had a nice time, he gave me a copy of the latest police magazine, he's a very senior police officer, then we had a wee wander round my vegetable garden. Grin He's recently been on a course in Ireland and he was very happy to talk of how nice Irish people were and how well he'd been treated.

Im now tucked up with half a dozen of the Christmas tree decorations cos i cant find where my daughters hid the Yule Log from their brother who's severely autistic and who has to have his sugar intake watched very carefully.

Its been a lovely day.

We have had my mum here this pm which is always tense and difficult as she is a very self centred, self righteous old witch. Fortunately my sister had her Christmas Day!
She only deigned to stay 3 hours ( hooray!!) before having to be driven home at 3.30!
Since she left we've watched tv, slobbed about, helped ds build his Star Wars Lego , played a game and generally had a lovely lazy time!!

liinyo · 26/12/2015 21:49

We always save our presents for Boxing Day. We have sone it since my DDs were little and they are in their 20s now. So today was a lie in then DM and DD2's boyfriend came round about about 1pm. pressies and champagne followed by a buffet/leftover lunch. Then naps, games and we have just watched the top twenty Abba Songs show....for the second time. Apart from DM being a bit of a narky cow ( refused to stay for lunch, refused to let us call her a cab, nsisted on getting the bus home) it's been a pretty good day.

Yourarejokingme · 26/12/2015 22:03

Doing reports for work. In-between chilling out as much as I could with smalls running about too. No leftover turkey here the dogs got that yesterday we had steak pie with lashings of gravy and the trimmings yum.

I'm now pottering and mumsnetting thinking of a bath too.

Notso · 26/12/2015 22:18

I've had a lovely day. Boxing Day is nearly my favourite part of Christmas.
The DC slept late and played downstairs for ages before coming in to wake DH and I.
Played some games with the DC and opened some more presents. We save the tree presents (ones from people we didn't see on Christmas Day) for Boxing Day.
DH took the two small ones for a massive walk. DD and DS1 went to the shops to spend their vouchers.
I had a good old tidy up, made a turkey and ham pie, some sausage rolls and a Yule log and had a large baileys.
Now the little DC are in bed, DH and DS1 are at the cinema and DD and I are watching a film.

CheerfulYank · 27/12/2015 04:53

I'm having my first ever Boxing Day! :o (I'm American)

I have a ton of empty boxes because I did all my Christmas shopping on Amazon. I have waaaaaay too much stuff so my goal is to fill every one of the boxes with the crap we don't need or use and take it to the community center during Donation Day on Tuesday.

Also I made a cranberry orange cake and have been eating leftover ham all day.

echt · 27/12/2015 05:11

Being in Australia, my Boxing Day is in the past. It was really good, with equable temperatures, lovely guests for excellent company, scarfing sangria and leftovers-type food.

Now I'm sitting in the front garden reading, with a blanc cassis on the go. DH has just popped in to say that the tomato juice bottle in the fridge is no longer, in fact, tomato juice. It is electric soup via the addition of vodka, etc. :o

FrancisdeSales · 27/12/2015 07:39

Just came home from a Boxing Day party in the states. A number of families with lots of kids and teens as we are all practicing Catholics. A big pot luck and lots of food. Followed by lots of socializing followed by carols in the living room by the fire - very rousing, the teens especially really got into it. Then decamped to kitchen for lights out as the Christmas Pud was ladled with lit brandy and a hearty singing of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". Lights on, pud and cream then the adults drinking and socializing while those under 20 played Sardines. Had to drag the reluctant kids out of there at 11pm.

Now Mumsnetting while husband starts to quietly snore.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 27/12/2015 10:29

All had an extremely lazy day. DS had a friend over. DD sorted her extremely untidy room a bit and threw out 9 small bags of rubbish - so that's a good start! I was on MN and FB nearly all day. Think DH played some telly/computer games with DS, and a bit of ukulele strumming with the boys.
At one point in evening we had another game of Trivial Pursuit - a repeat of Christmas day. Surely that's enough board games now, at least for 2015?!
Had the last left-overs of Chriistmas dinner at various random points to keep us going all day, and I made everyone a sausage sandwich for supper, with optional fried egg Xmas Smile Tried a bit of "Dickensian" but, though Christmassy, it didn't really grab me. Today looks like it will be similar - boys out for a birdwatching walk/drive (it's a bit rainy here today)
