DH and I have just put the presents out for Ds who is 2 and a half.
We looked at them and then each other and both said "fuck"
We have gone totally overboard and made the mistake both buying stuff and even though we did tell the other what we had bought I didn't sink in how much we had
30 presents for a two year old plus a stocking. Would I be really mean to put some away for his birthday?

Ds' birthday is today but he's only 3. He's got about 6 from us and more coming from family but I'm sure we'll have to double up for his birthday next year!

I think 10 plus a stocking would be ample.

You've got two more Christmases already sorted, OP!

Good idea to out some way. My experience of when kids where young is same as some other posters. They want to properly play with first thing they open and are not interested in opening any more. The other things is we certainly made a rod for our own back. Now the kids are teenagers their expectations is still to get same amount of presents. The difference being that little kids get great big presents that fill a sack because it's full of cheap plastic stuff. Teenagers want fancy gadgets which are inevitably expensive and very small. Need a few to fill a sack! Have had to be quite inventive in the wrapping this year!! Happy Christmas.

My two year old was only interested in her battery operated toothbrush and her chocolate. She only had four presents and a stocking, but got fed up and a sibling ended up opening her last present because she didn't want to know.

They really don't need much!

We have bought far too many presents for DD. We've put half away for her birthday and next Christmas and still she lost interest halfway through! And we're generally considered tight Grin

Partly because of the presents from other people though. And she's only 3, with ASD so not keen on the change in routine. She's shut out most of Christmas to concentrate on her new play dough Smile
