This thread saved my skin last year, so I am paying back the karma.

15th January seems to be the closing date again.

  • remember it is preferences, not choices
  • they do not HAVE to give you one of the schools on your list
  • make sure you have a dead cert banker in there!

Didn't renew, slowest ever x post with DinoSnores.

Christ, honestly I was not slow at all but she would never make it twice a day. (never mind me bloody 4 times a day ) When she finishes her 3 hours at nursery she takes forever to walk the normally 15 min walk home.

I'm not hopelessly unfit at all but it sounds a lot me (time wise). Dunno how I'll feel after the birth... God I must sound a right lazy cow, I'm not, just I want to enjoy my new baby a bit more in the house iykwim, not on the move 4 times a day for 45 mins or however long it takes each time.

DD is turning 4 soon but she needs the company of other children badly so no home ed for us.
I probably prefer other schools a tiny bit further (half a mile) but with fixed transport.
Thanks for your comment.

Get her a scooter. She'll whiz along happily.

ursuslemonade · 08/01/2016 19:57

She is enthusiastic in the mornings, it's the walk home which could be problematic. She gets a bit tired by midday, honestly, you should see her "walking" home from nursery. Takes forever.
We don't have mobility issues, except for my spine/back problems after childbirth. That could affect my speed as well.

ursuslemonade · 08/01/2016 20:14

We didn't get her a scooter yet because she is not 100% reliable (still a bit of a bolter sometimes) Otherwise it might be time to trust her with it.
Other issue with the walking distance is what the hell do I do when/if the baby is sick and can't be taken out...There is literally no one I could leave the baby with while I'm taking dd to school. That's why I prefer the school with the school bus...
Anyway thanks to all input.

reni2 · 08/01/2016 20:17

Are there likely other people from your village in the 2mile school? If so, I'd try and get to know them soon, that might be invaluable. Others will have similar problems and you could help each other when a child is ill..

ursuslemonade · 08/01/2016 20:36

The one in the next village but same borough ( my 2nd preference) takes many "leftover" ones from my village. I would love that school for her because in case of emergency I could jump on the bus to get her (if it comes)

Probably some of her classmates from nursery will end up there as well.
If I put this one as the 2nd choice and the next borough one as the last (former a bit (0.3 miles) further then the latter) would that make any difference when allocating or would the authorities think the closest one must be better for me? (the local, number 1 is so oversubscribed that I have a greater chance to take the jackpot home tonight than get in)

MandSPressedApple · 08/01/2016 20:39

No, if you qualify for your number 2 you get number 2 (afaik).

ursuslemonade · 08/01/2016 20:41

Thanks for your reply, it's a non-religious one, so hopefully more chance to get in.

Okay, so I have a stupid question. I am in London (so applying on the eAdmissions site). I have submitted our application.

Looking at the site, it says that a reminder will be sent out a week before. I have not received this - is this because I have already submitted?

Also (sorry, I know this sounds ridiculous), I have had an email titled Confirmation for eAdmissions application which gives me an application reference. This means that I've submitted my application, doesn't it?

seamstressmummy · 10/01/2016 14:56

This email means they've received the application doesn't it? #panic

I wouldn't mind but this is the second time I've done this! More to lose this time I guess.

biboergosum · 15/01/2016 12:38

Yes, Sheilagh, since it is called "confirmation for eAdmissions application" I'd interpret that as a confirmation of your application. Have a cup of tea or break into the gin to calm your nerves, you've done it. Fingers crossed for the place you want Flowers.

ShelaghTurner · 15/01/2016 12:49

I know. I'm an eejit! I'm ashamed of myself. Kettle is on....Thanks

ShelaghTurner · 15/01/2016 12:50

That sounded less humorous than I intended. HmmGrin

biboergosum · 15/01/2016 12:59
