Aibu to think my DH bought the wrong card?

My DH has bought his parents a card from our children, but it says 'To Great Grandparents at Christmas.'

I told him he had bought the wrong card. They are our children's Grandparents not Great Grandparents. He says it means 'Great' as in wonderful, amazing etc not the parents of one's Grandparents. Surely he is wrong and I am right?

Well, I know my parents wouldn't be offended because they aren't twats.

Lovely for you, Soup. But can you guarantee that no grandparent receiving this would be offended?

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 09:05

Can you guarantee that they would be?

honeyroar · 20/12/2015 09:08

I'd be amazed if any decent grandparents would be offended.

And another thing, it would be a talking point, if this thread is anything to go by!

BillBrysonsBeard · 20/12/2015 09:11

Who would care about this? Most would smile and laugh it off, it's sweet Smile But I do agree it's probably meant for actual great-grandparents, if great was describing them then it wouldn't be capitalised would it? Not sure! But really not a big deal.

pennyennydots · 20/12/2015 09:28

You are definitely right!

cashewnutty · 20/12/2015 09:32

My 18 yo DD says she would buy it for her grandparents because they are great!

liquidrevolution · 20/12/2015 09:37

I would say its for the grandparents parents. Too confusing!

Dh went with 17mo DD to get a card for me. Its got bearskin wearing soldiers on and says 'from your little soldier'. I applaud his acceptance that little girls can be soldiers but suspect he bought just because he like the picture and didnt read the words. Still its an improvement from last years multipack (that I bought!) Grin Hmm

Pranmasghost · 20/12/2015 09:41

Underline the 'great' with a line of hearts or kisses drawn by the kids just to be sure.

RaspberryOverloadingOnTurkey · 20/12/2015 09:48

The card is aimed at the parents grandarents, with the added bonus of poor grammar. It's a very ambiguous card.

I'm not surprised that there have been mixed responses, and equally I am not surprised that card companies have designers with crap grammar.

FadedRed · 20/12/2015 14:02

there isn't much call for great grandparents cards isn't really an argument IMO. People could be GGP's in their late (forties Hmm ) fifties, more likely sixties/seventies, so there would be more of a market for GGP cards than those for 90/95/100 year birthday days, and they are on sale.

DamsonInDistress · 20/12/2015 14:37

Yes it's badly written and designed, but it's clearly meant for great-grandparents, only an idiot would genuinely think otherwise, surely?!
