Do you all still like a good NDN parcel thread? Apparently I've ruined next door's Xmas

This gave me a good laugh, especially so as it's probably the first lighthearted thread I've written in a while so it's done me some good anyway.

Last week I took in a parcel for the neighbours - it was a large box, signed for it, all well and good so far. That evening the neighbours must've been out as when I knocked no-one answered.

The next day I caught the woman coming home and went over with the parcel. She looked slightly confused and told me that she hadn't been expecting anything but as the box was addressed to her she took it in anyway.

A few days later on my way out I saw the man (her husband) coming out of the house, waved hello as usual and he said "Oh hi JustAnotherOP, like ruining other people's Christmases do you?" I looked slightly puzzled and asked what he meant. Turns out that the parcel I'd handed over to the woman was actually her main Xmas present which she had subsequently opened.

He's a prat

munkisocks · 18/12/2015 13:28

I'd have said "your welcome! Next time I won't sign for it and let them take it back to santa! Be bloody in for it yourself!"

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/12/2015 13:28

The ungrateful cunt. I bet that's the last parcel you take in. Mind you its your fault. How very dare you have the audacity not to be psychic!. Xmas Grin.

What an absolute moron.

Just this morning, my DH said to me "I've ordered something for you, so when it arrives, don't interrogate it too much" Grin

It's not hard to say that. And since he addressed it to her, he's doubly a moron.

lorelei9 · 18/12/2015 13:30

Monty - now I'm wondering what stops bras Grin

lorelei9 · 18/12/2015 13:31

Chattymum - it could have been a present from a friend. I'd automatically open something addressed to me as well unless I had been asked not to.

NoSquirrels · 18/12/2015 13:32

That's just ... he must be usually a very angry type! He ordered a parcel to be delivered to his home address, addressed to his wife, she opened it, and you are to blame. Nowt so queer as men with a misplaced sense of responsibility and dented pride folk!

theycallmemellojello · 18/12/2015 13:33

Surely he was joking? It sounds like a joke to me. I would have treated it as one (unless the delivery made it clear it wasn't). If he was serious he's obviously a weirdo.

ExBallerina · 18/12/2015 13:33

What a dick.

I wonder if he'd have said the same to the courier too...how dare they deliver a parcel that might be a surprise! Xmas Hmm

liz70 · 18/12/2015 13:33

"The woman was stupid not to guess it was a Christmas present for her"

No, the husband was stupid for addressing the parcel to her. I sometimes lose track of everything I've ordered online, whatever time of year, and so would open any delivery with my name on it. Don't make excuses for the dozy git. He presumably didn't even order it with gift wrap - at least then the wife would have known it was a present after removing the outer layer.

I'd have just laughed out loud and told the nutcase to gtf.

AnnaMarlowe · 18/12/2015 13:34

What he meant to say was 'thank you' presumably.

Well, at least it saves you from ever taking in another parcel for them.

MontyYouTerribleCunt · 18/12/2015 13:36

if this can make someone so angry then I'd love to have his problems iykwim

^^exactly! I've seen some ruined xmasses and funny enough they had nothing to do with presents arriving early. Pfft. Idiot.

Did I say pfft already? PFFT!

goodnightdarthvader1 · 18/12/2015 13:36

In further anecdote-ness, I had a parcel arrive addressed to me earlier in the week. I called my mum, asked if she'd ordered anything to be delivered to me. Nope. Text my DH and asked if he'd ordered anything addressed to me. Nope. So I googled the company address on the box. It didn't make any sense, so I opened it. It was something I'd ordered off Amazon (but came by Royal Mail, which I wasn't expecting). Point is, I checked first!

Theworldmakesnosense · 18/12/2015 13:38

Tell the cunt to kiss your arse Angry

MontyYouTerribleCunt · 18/12/2015 13:39

Lorelei Grin. I sincerely hope they sell lovely bras but now I'm beginning to wonder...

londonrach · 18/12/2015 13:40

If he didnt want her to find out about he should have put his name on it. Yanbu. He lucky you told it in. Hope he thanked you

EvaBING · 18/12/2015 13:42

It will be the last parcel you'll sign for the fuckwit I'm sure!

Gruntfuttock · 18/12/2015 13:44

Egosumquisum the parcel was addressed to the wife. As far as the OP was concerned, it could have been the wife's present to the husband. After all, if you've got any sense you don't address a parcel to someone if you don't want them to open it. The OP did nothing wrong, the husband did two things wrong.

SaucyJack · 18/12/2015 13:46

Maybe the box contained his wife's lover's head a la Se7en?

Weirdo.

He's angry at himself for being such an idiot.
Which he is.

cjt110 · 18/12/2015 13:48

He was obviously at work when it arrived - if only he;d had it delieverd to his work, crisis averted. What a dick.

MontyYouTerribleCunt · 18/12/2015 13:49

Maybe the box contained his wife's lover's head a la Se7en?

Baahahahaha almost certainly.

Pfft.

cjt110 · 18/12/2015 13:49

"If only he'd had it delivered to his work"* My bloody spelling! Shock
