To think DD's school report is meaningless?

Got DD's 'dashboard' for the end of term. Rather than levels the school are using A (above expected progress) E (expected progress) and B (below). DD has entirely Es.

So, she is progressing as expected. But from that we can't tell which subjects she's good at - "she's brilliant at this subject and is doing really well which is just what we expected" OR "well she really struggles but is trying hard and making slow progress as is expected".

AIBU to think this is a bit lazy on the part of the school and is a pointless exercise as it tell us nothing?

Haven't read the who,e thread, but we got an unexpected report too. DD who is 6 got a line "working above age related expectations" under each subject heading (reading, writing, maths) and then 1-3 for effort, achievement and progress, where 1 was exceeds expectations, 2 meets, 3 below. She got 1's for effort and achievement and 2's for progress. She can't be both working above age related expectations and meeting them. Her friend, who is v similar academically got exactly the same. So either the teacher has interpreted the data to mean her progress is exactly what teacher expected of individual child, or teacher believes she's working at age related expectation, which contradicts the line about working above age related expectations. Quite a few of the parents are v confused. We've never had end of term reports and it just seems more work for the teachers unnecessarily and more confusion for parents as they try to interpret.

Yes she can. If she was working at above age related expectations at the start of the year and is still working at above age related expectations that is probably expected progress (ie a 2) unless she is now further above. On the other hand above expected progress might be if you started the year well below expectations and have caught up a bit. Progress and attainment aren't the same thing.
