To think Olivia Colman is actually too good an actor?

Watching last week's episode of Peepshow tonight (I'm a week behind, no spoilers please). That bit where she turned up rat arsed to the soft play centre was almost too painful to watch, in the middle of all the ridiculousness that isthe Mark,Jeremy,Superhans drama. AIBU?

I agree with 2rebecca and I actually find her quite annoying! (Olivia Coleman not 2rebecca!)
I find (in the things I've seen her in) she always plays dithering characters and does a lot of mumbling; Making it difficult to follow her sometimes. I realise I am in minority though! Also can't stand her co star in broadchurch, David tenant. Urgh!

I think she is one of the best actors around! And yes to Lobster- she have an amazing (and definitely not mumsy!) performance in a fantastic film.

counthedays · 17/12/2015 08:09

I find her really annoying and she was horrific on some talk show last year

southeastastra · 17/12/2015 08:13

i don't get the mn love for her, i don't think she's particularly amazing just an actor

I thought Tyranosaur was an amazing film but I can't think of many people I would recommend it to and I'm not sure if I'd want to see it again either! Everyone was coming out of the cinema looking angst struck!

BeanGirls · 17/12/2015 08:56

She's she's fantastic. I've seen her recently in 'Run' on Netflix. Highly recommend.

DSClarke · 17/12/2015 13:47

I thought The Lobster was great. Although I think I was the only one laughing at certain points.

Everyone in it was compelling. One of the best things I've seen in ages.

I think i would be a cat.

She's the only actor I've ever seen who can do a convincing drunk. I'm completely in love with her.

strongwhitetea · 17/12/2015 14:24

YABU. She is an actress.

DickDewy · 17/12/2015 14:30

She is so talented.

I recently saw her in a strange little short film, it's called The Karman Line. I came across it on a long flight.

She was so fabulous in it, it stayed with me for days.

CherryPicking · 17/12/2015 15:04

I think we love her because she's 'one of us' you might think she's mumsy to begin with, then the subtlety of her acting sort of sneaks up on you. A bit like how Mn has transformed the public perception of what mother think and are capable of.

I thought it was funny. I liked Mark's 'homeless ball pit witch' description. It reminded me of that scene a couple of series back where Mark finds her drunk in the club toilets - 'You're like a life support machine Mark. Except instead of giving life you SUCK IT ALL OUT OF PEOPLE!'

She's brilliant in "Miss Austen Regrets" It's a film based on Jane Austen's letters, highly recommended. It's not just another costume drama (and it's the only one where I've seen a coach-trip interrupted so the ladies can have a pee-break).
