...seem to be conspicuous by their absence.

We've all seen David Cameron, Francois Hollande, Barak Obama on the TV in recent weeks, on numerous occasions denouncing terrorism, specifically Daesh.
I seem to remember seeing Justin Welby and the leaders of all of the opposition parties, doing the same on TV.

So why have I not seen the same from other leaders, especially the Muslim leaders?

Surely now is the time, especially with Donald Trump spreading such hatred.

I've seen many posts on FB about Muslim communities in the North West heading up to Carlisle to help out those affected by the floods. They've been really generous and have been gratefully received. Not a whisper of it outside FB btw.

FundraisingPTABitch · 15/12/2015 15:04

Actually, I see nothing but Muslims saying sorry all day long every day and it's been going on since September 11th. All over Facebook, at coffee, twitter, Instagram.

What makes it heart breaking is that every Muslim on the planet shouldn't feel personally responsible for any of this.

There are tonnes of things lots of Muslims are doing, like #notinmyname and #youaintnomuslimbruv . She too as a Muslim keeps making an effort to differentiate Muslims from the likes of Daesh.

All I see is Muslims condemning all terrorist behaviour, all the time. I don't see why they have to take any responsibility for it. It's really setting a bad pattern.

You cannot apologise for things you aren't responsible for, it will have quite a lot of long lasting negative effects.

Also, I believe a collective group of Muslim leaders took out large amounts of News Paper add space to condemn the Paris attacks and other Terroristy type things. It was recently and in a large newspaper. Let me see if I can find the link in the mean time.

*Lets all just remember Muslims are people just like everyone else. No sane community wants chaos, death or destruction.

Sameshitdiffname · 15/12/2015 15:05

To me this is like saying all Muslims should apologise for ISIL

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 15/12/2015 15:06

All the Muslims I know hate Abu Hamza. I'd often hear 'if he doesn't like it hear then why doesn't he piss off?' From Muslims
People like Abu hamza make life difficult for normal Muslims as he stirs up hatred for them.
The other factor is is that Abu hamza a influence is very limited. Donald Trump's is not.

Sameshitdiffname · 15/12/2015 15:07

Plummybrummy that was on the local news yesterday.

Owllady · 15/12/2015 15:08

Our local news covered Muslim leaders speaking out after the attacks on Paris

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 15/12/2015 15:09

The advert that ran in the papers paid for by Muslim groups referred to ISIS as Daesh. I'm sure that's because the Muslim world do not consider any part of them to be islamic so would rather not have Islamic state as their name.

Drew64 · 15/12/2015 15:09

Kaytee1987

"So called Islamic state are nutters, what same person wants the end of the world confused people like Donald Trump play right into their hands by creating more fear and hatred which is what fuels terrorism in the first place. It's a vicious circle."

Exactly my point!
So, why don't Muslim and other leaders step in to counter Donald Duck Trump?

The Telegraph

Time

USA Today

Wall St Journal

And I believe the BBC, Guardian, Daily Mail and lots of other well read and subscribed to News Papers and other online news sources have similar articles.

Really, what more do you think is acceptable? Sorry has been said, these people didn't do it and still they feel responsible and a sense of shame. How would you feel if you had to keep taking the blame for horrific crimes you didn't commit?

FundraisingPTABitch · 15/12/2015 15:16

If someone blamed me for as much as littering I would feel guilty enough.

If then I went to be accused of murder, rape, torture, cruelty...I would feel incredibly low. If I was accused of these sentiments by a world full of people--yeah, I'd have to check myself into a mental institution because the pressure of this unbound and misdirected guilt would be too much.

Kaytee1987 · 15/12/2015 15:35

Drew64 Muslim leaders aren't given the press space/time here and I believe many Muslims are worried about speaking out about anyone tbh because of the backlash they could receive.

velourvoyageur · 15/12/2015 15:39

Didn't the Independent just do a piece on the media ignoring the Muslim anti-terrorism march that took place recently?

I think our news sources may be slightly Islamphobic.....

Kaytee1987 · 15/12/2015 15:42

Also Op I'm not sure what more you want Muslims to do, it's a bit like expecting all Catholics to apologise constantly for the IRA. Or even all Christians to apologise for the IRA since there more than one 'type' of Muslim.

sashh · 15/12/2015 15:53

So why have I not seen the same from other leaders, especially the Muslim leaders?

Who are they?

The C of E has a head, the RC Church and Orthodox churches but most others don't have an established hierarchy.

The same for many other religions. There are various 'type' of Muslims some of whom say others are not 'true' Muslims.

Turn the clock back tot he 1970s do you think the pope should have condemned the IRA or ETA?

Scratch that, do you think the Arch Bishop of Canterbury should have apologised for the Birmingham bombings?

FundraisingPTABitch · 15/12/2015 16:05

Sashh

regardless of who Muslims believe Muslims are and aren't; those people who do identify themselves as Muslim are condemning/apologising for acts of terrorism committed by anyone else who also thinks they are Muslim

Which is where I am starting to believe the problem is coming from, if this is so; I believe I may have an answer to end this ridiculous cycle. Now, who do I get in touch with?

Drew64 · 16/12/2015 10:08

Thank you for the links, the community are speaking out, it just was not very obvious to me.
That's kinda my point though, you have to search for their comments it's not rammed down your throat like Trump is.

WTF would I want an apology from them? My OP was questioning why I hadn't seen ANY comments from them but I would NEVER expect an apology from them. That's just a crass expectation.

I just think it's time that everybody stood together, publicly, against Daesh and It was not obvious to me.
