conjugal visit

Just watching a show prison wife's and this one lady moaning on about not being able to have a conjugal visit for 3 years because they were married after he was sentenced he's doing 60 years for murder and saying how she wants a baby

I felt a bit judgy but thought tbh
I don't think it's fair on the child

To set out to be a single parent is odd
To Raise a child having to grow up with the stigma that their father committed a double murder
And to have society support you because you choose to have a child with a man that can't support you

Also that your own child is more like to be a criminal

I also thought a lot of women quite like the fact they have a man that can't cheat on them and writes them adoring letters weekly as if pride and prejudice.

Also wonder why conjugal visits have never been asked for here tbh if I were a prisoner voting would not be top of my agenda

Oh is a submariner we have periods of time with no contact (about 4 months).

It's very good for our relationship sometimes like a little "sabbatical" Grin. I get to write letters but receive nothing back.

I can see the attraction but not forever - I like it when he comes home and the period of readjustment is tricky.

But then he hasn't killed anyone either.

Good point. I would have to keep them in the car and then leg it as soon as the deed was done :o

It's her choice to marry a murderer and accept the stress and limitations that imposes on her life. The potential child doesn't have a choice and she shouldn't subject them to the stress and stigma of growing up with a murderer for a father.

Conjugal visits for prisoners. What next in this mad world. What about the poor families of the victims they murdered. They won't be getting visits. Whether or not women decide to stay married to people sentenced to 60 years in prison is up to them. And burdening a child with a convicted murder for a father is hardly sensible or caring. Sorry no smypathy from me.

It is a truth universally acknowledged
That a single woman, in pursuit of a good husband,
must be in want of a life(r)

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 07/12/2015 22:36

Don't worry Vivienne a 'grab the sperm and run' style visit of the kind Gladys is planning would leave them all dejected.

To set out to be a single parent is odd

Cheers, Merry Christmas to you too.

In all seriousness, some women really do think that this is as good as they can get. Or as I said above, prefer a man behind bars for the rest of his days as at least then he cant hurt her.

Hard to understand unless you have been terrorised, but it doesnt take a genius to work out that a man who will never raise a hand to you and tells you as often as he can how much he loves you, would be preferable to a real life person in your home.

Gladys you are reminding me of that Catherine Tate character Grin

CastaDiva · 07/12/2015 22:51

Shiny Grin.
