Ocado

AIBU to throw a little mental strop about Xmas Ocado?

I've used Ocado every week for a year, signed up to Smart Pass etc etc

For their Xmas deliveries on Xmas week they are charging £9.99 a delivery with a minimum spend of £90!

What justifies this? Does petrol increase on the 22nd December? Do they pay their staff more to work a normal Monday or Tuesday?

We usually spend around £50-60 and we are going to family on Xmas day.

So really when I need it the most I'm going to have to venture to the supermarket.

Surely must leave a bitter taste with the regular shoppers?

Maybe I'll have to rethink my Ocado status while being on maternity leave - it doesn't seem to fit when someone has asked me to suck up spending £90 plus £9.99 delivery AND STILL NOT BE ABLE TO EAT!

Why would I do that? I would just shop and get it all together at tesco.

Nappies are cheaper on Amazon anyway.

My slot is free on the 20th, but I'd still rather pay £9.99 than trek through tesco before Christmas.

It's been this way for years, there are other supermarkets you can use.

get a delivery on 20th for free?
Thats what i have done

I use ocado all the time too and have done so for about 5 years.

TBH i dont think spending £90 at Xmas is that hard...... and we are away from Xmas day until 3rd Jan, but will still spend £90 as thats far better than dragging 2 very young children to supermarket

I do my mums shopping with mine and split the delivery charge with her usually, though as I say I've had the free slot this time.
I'm planning on sitting down with her this weekend and adding her shopping on. Makes life so much easier.

I shop every 2 weeks so hoping to get my free delivery shop on wed 16th and then one 3 weeks later, I'm not paying that and will get bits at other shops, I mostly get my heavy stuff from them anyway, no car.

VulcanWoman · 02/12/2015 23:29

Don't they all hike their prices up.

LittleBearPad · 03/12/2015 00:10

I pay the £9.99 happily because it means I don't have to take two small children round a supermarket at Christmas and all my extensive Christmas food and drink shopping gets carried into my kitchen.
