To be a bit peeved that my friend is bringing her 6yo on our night out

My friend and I have gone to a gig for the last 2 years running at Xmas, combined it with a bit of a piss up and generally had a great time. We don't get to go out together much, so I was looking forward to our Xmas shindig, but this year she's bringing her 6yo daughter. I'm a bit pissed off to be honest. AIBU?

Trying to imagine how I would feel. Is there something else going on here? Is it a band her daughter really really likes or something? To be honest I would LOVE to take my 6yo to a gig because he really likes music, but I don't think a normal gig would be suitable for a child this age. Isn't that what festivals are for? Can you tell us what band it is??

Sorry, remind me, why is pregnancy a potential excuse for this friend bringing her 6 year old on an evening out?

LizzieMacQueen · 01/12/2015 21:47

Take your 6 year old too, skip the pub after and set a date to go to the pub another night.

Absolutely what LizzieMacQueen said.

I was thinking from your op that she had had a childcare crisis and didn't want to let you down so was presenting this as the next viable option.
But now you say her DH will be at home I'm a bit baffled. I suppose covering up a pregnancy might be a reason, can't go to pubs afterwards and get pissed etc.

I'd just bow out gracefully with a message which explains you'd rather wait for a night out for just the 2 of you. She might be grateful.

To give her a legitimate reason not to drink, I would have thought M. Bit complicated though, surely she would just say she's on antibiotic like everyone else does!
