Inhave a twelve year old daughter, Pentatonix are an often heard noise out of her room :o

Have you heard they've had a bash at the star wars theme? Part of me is appalled, part of me is amused.

LittleMissGreen · 01/12/2015 13:33

Smile just been listening to a Pentatonix Christmas CD on amazon prime music.

Oh, I love a good music quiz! Well done, OP and Hygge! Did you know, the "Carol of the Bells" was originally a New Year's carol called "Shchedryk", by Ukrainian composer Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych (who was shot by the Tcheka in 1921). The English lyrics and, er, "arrangement" are by the American composer Peter Wilhousky. news.rice.edu/2004/12/13/carol-of-the-bells-wasnt-originally-a-christmas-song/

I will check out the star wars theme! They are like something that would appear on BGT. I do like their version of the carol though Xmas Smile

Sounds like the Star Wars Darth Vader theme to me tbh Grin

Was it the imperial march they did? I heard the tiniest snippet on the news the other day. I'm too scared to actually go look that one out. I might just ask the twelve year old... :o

Nabootique · 01/12/2015 14:34

I thought it was the intro to "Jump Around" by House of Pain, you know how it goes "duhhhhhh duh duh duhhhhh" then does a scratchy record sort of noise and goes into the tune.

Infinitynose · 01/12/2015 14:40

NabootiqueGrin that would be great carol!

Nabootique · 01/12/2015 14:41

I was thinking that it wasn't very festive, although "House of Pain" may be appropriate for some! Grin

SingingSamosa · 01/12/2015 19:13

I'd have said it was more b/flat...a b/flat g personally Wink

I do love that version by Librera. Think I mught buy their Christmas album to add to my collection! The version by Pentatonix was rather good too - although the guy singing it seems to have a bit of a girly voice! Confused

MovemberSucks · 01/12/2015 19:27

I know one of the singers in Libera, one of DS's friends back when he was a toddler, although that link is from 2011 and I don't think he was in it then.

I've just listened to the Pentatonix Star Wars, hmmm, not sure it was any better than the orchestra alone.

ListenWithYourEyes · 01/12/2015 20:48

Ding fries are done, ding fries are done Grin

Tanith · 02/12/2015 12:13

Samosa's right - the choir in the clip is singing Bflat A Bflat G

I do have perfect pitch Grin
