AIBU to think my DD 2.5 painting looks like a murder scene?

It's supposed to be a lovely handmade gift for a beloved relative. Unfortunately it looks to me like a body lying in a pool of blood with a cat lapping at it. The body has clawed at the wall on the way down, and the murderer's footprints in red are leading away from the body. All lovingly depicted in fabric paint on a canvas tote bag. Cos nothing is more Christmassy than a gruesome murder. I'm going to have to get her to do another one, aren't I? Unless no-one else can see it and I just need some sort of therapy? I think the picture will come out sideways, with the top on the left IYSWIM...

PoorFannyRobin - Hahaha... now I see 'terrible pit-stop accident'. This is an improvement on 'bloody Mary' (DH's original name for bag) in that intended recipient is not F1 driver, or pit crew, so bag is less likely to be construed as death threat from toddler.

It's a cat playing with a red ball of yarn! Why do you think the red has to be liquid?

TPel · 01/12/2015 09:57

It has Turner Prize winner written all over it.

tbh I think it's charming.

TenThousandSpoons · 01/12/2015 10:02

I also saw a dog - Dalmatian rather than Snoopy.
The letters of Mary do look quite sinister though Grin

LumpySpaceCow · 01/12/2015 10:04

Looks like Snoopy Smile

Whatthequack · 01/12/2015 10:27

I think it looks like the side profile of dog with a rather large goatee.

AlisonWunderland · 01/12/2015 10:30

I think it looks like a dog with black ears and it's got a large red Xmas bauble hanging from its collar.

No murder

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 01/12/2015 10:31

Whatthequack - maybe it's an actual goat.

Am reassured by the number of murder-free interpretations. :)

Is Mary and ISIS sympathiser?

If so, I'm sure she'll love it.

DonkeyOaty · 01/12/2015 10:36

Yep Snoopy. Or Queens Guard. Nope now it's a small sea plane, Indiana Jones style.

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 01/12/2015 10:50

Mackeral, no. Maybe she'll love it anyway? (Hopes). DonkeyOaty - great name btw - ooh seaplane :)

The cat is sleeping on the tummy of a person wearing a red jumper. Snoopy is just about to bite the cat's bum.

Or maybe he has just bitten the cat's bum, hence the red junper.

ceebie · 01/12/2015 13:34

I love it. Is she taking orders? Can she do one for me please?

PoorFannyRobin · 01/12/2015 17:01

Is this a Rorschach test? Can I delete my post above?

thelouise · 01/12/2015 18:23

It's art, you just don't understand!!

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 01/12/2015 19:47

PoorFannyRobin, if it is a Rorschach, you and I are in a similar boat. Ceebie, all the other bags painted so far look disimilar from this one and each other, so due to the temperament and experimental style of the artist, were you to commission a piece it would be on a completely pot luck basis :)

There are enough plausible interpretations that I have parcelled it up for posting :) Hopefully beloved relative will enjoy her gift :)

It'll definitely be interesting to see how your relative interprets it!

ceebie · 02/12/2015 12:36

DS (aged 3) painted his own t-shirt. His is very fond of dark colours. The general reaction when he wore his t-shirt was "Oh MY, what happened to you?????". He did look as if he'd fallen into a dumpster or a slurry pit.

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 07/12/2015 12:37

Ceebie... hahaha... yes. Had I let DD use black as much as she really wanted it would have looked quite different. Kajamite - I suspect beloved relative did not like gift. Have had grateful overwhelmed calls from all other recipients, and stony silence on this front! Maybe on holiday so not received parcel yet? (hopes)
