To think recorders have no place at 9pm on a Friday night

One of my neighbour's kids is playing "Jingle Bells" (I think). On a recorder. I'm trying to get my baby to sleep. She doesn't seem bothered by it but I bloody am.

I'm sure recorders must have been invented solely as torture devices...

Oh dear, I'm going to MN hell. I like bagpipes and baroque recorder music.Blush

Not together, mind...

I've said this before but when I win Euromillions I'm getting a full set of wooden recorders and a Steinway grand and a soundproofed music room.

But Yy anything is hideous when wielded by a beginner late in the evening.

Recorders have no place in modern society.

I can see that they'd be considered entertainment in ye olde days when a public hanging was a day out but in 2015? No.

Helen, I started at 4. Mind you, one of my first thoughts when my son was born was 'those are the hands of a tuba player', so maybe we should go straight for that instead. Grin

Oh, and he is the size of a 6yr old anyway.

If you're onto brass... I now have a whim and I have to obey it, to post this old song on a Mu-umsnet thread.

You are being unreasonable. A wooden one could be used to help start a nice open fire to warm your cockles on a cold winter's night.

Brioche201 · 30/11/2015 11:20

they are not descant recorders though are they?
I don't think a recorder, though grim, is that loud, so 9pm would be OK

Avonandice · 30/11/2015 12:55

Ill swap you the recorder for a daughter who -saws in half a cat- plays violin and a daughter who plays the saxaphone -sounds like a wounded moose-
