Who?

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 26/11/2015 21:46

He's a legend! And his story just adds to his legend status.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/11/2015 21:46

What about him?

Indeed a legend and a walking miracle. But haven't seen any news today.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/11/2015 21:47

Are you watching the BBC1 documentary?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/11/2015 21:48

No, he's a musician. Part of the Legendary Canvey Island band Dr Feelgood.

SaucyJack · 26/11/2015 21:48

Ilyn Payne.

What of him?

weebarra · 26/11/2015 21:48

Amazing story. He was diagnosed about the same time as me, but with a different cancer. We're both still here!

Whatsername24 · 26/11/2015 21:50

Are you talking about the documentry? It was SO good!

Owllady · 26/11/2015 21:53

When was it on? What was it called?
I love him. I loved him before the rankin exhibition but i do just think he is such a lovely man

Savagebeauty · 26/11/2015 21:53

Oh it was a great programme. He is superb.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/11/2015 21:53

It was on BBC1 on Tuesday night Owl. It was brilliant.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/11/2015 21:54

I didn't know there had been a documentary recently, but loved the film a few years ago Oil City Confidential. My DCs first favourite album was Dr Feelgood's greatest hits.

I'm glad to hear that you too are still here Weebarra

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/11/2015 21:55

Will look up the documentary on Iplayer.

Whatsername24 · 26/11/2015 21:55

It'll be on iPlayer.

timelytess · 26/11/2015 21:56

Saw Dr Feelgood at the Free Trade Hall - think it was 7 November 1975. They were good.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/11/2015 21:56

He was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few years ago, played a farewell tour when extremely unwell and has made a miraculous recovery.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/11/2015 21:59

It is on iplayer. It's in the Arts section - The Ecstasy Of Wilko Johnson.

Owllady · 26/11/2015 22:02

Oh i'll look on iplayer. I know alot of his story as we use the same hospital as him
But isnt ut true that at a consultant there saw the rankin alive exhibition and then saw him at hus concert andcouldnt believe how well he was, so spoken to him. Then he had pioneering surgery?

I didn't share my sausage roll with him in the food court ghere, honestly :)

Owllady · 26/11/2015 22:03

Sorry i am on my phone Blush

Justaboy · 26/11/2015 23:12

Waah!, great bloke!, used to see them back in around 73/4 and that guitar playing on his old Telecaster was superb, and the 1000 yard stare!.

Remember seeing them in Cambridge once at the Uni there and some jobsworth turned the power off and their drummer the Big Figure managed to keep hammering the drums for around a half hour before he collapsed with exhaustion and the tumultuous cheer from the crowd. Only regret i had was never seeing them play on their home turf, a good and probably the only reason to go to Canvey Island!

Excellent brand of sound that was, ISTR them calling it Rhythm and Booze and there was a sure lot of that:-)

There was a benefit gig he played at the Junction venue in Cambridge for the addenbrookes charitable trust where he had his surgery at Addenbrookes hospital, and it was sold out the moment tickets went on sale and it was said they could have sold 10 times over such was the interest and demand:)

Justaboy · 26/11/2015 23:17

Enjoy! their first LP all recoded in Mono for effect:)
