you might take care not to park like a twat on the school run every day??

There is one 4x4 with a huge company name on the side in pink that parks on the corner - literally on the corner - every day.

Have reported to school but they have done nothing. It's so dangerous! Complete twattery.

And if I ever wanted to use their company I just wouldn't, because I'd think, if they parked like a twat, what would they be like to work with?

Indeed they don't
and so those who are offended by it need to speak up
or be willing to pay much higher taxes to get the public sector to do the job

engaging in personal correspondence will result in a row
posting an untagged picture will become a joke
and being laughed at will damage their business

My friend got so sick and tired of the dodgy parking our our local primary school that she made 100 stickers saying " you park like twat, will your parking be responsible for a child's death?" She stuck them on dangerously parked cars for a week before people eventually learnt to park safely. She's keeps a few in her bag for anyone that seems to forget . Smile

I like the stickers idea. I had suggested stickers to our school too (a more polite version than Ollienoodles) but the local police advised them that putting a sticker on a car could be construed as criminal damage.

YANBU - I am now not buying: A thermomix, using a well known local plumber, giving any custom to 3 other local shops, and yell at anyone who is parking dangerously/selfishly. One woman was 3 point turnining into a school drive near the reception class entrance, and when I called her on it (I was "strident" but not shouting) she accused me of scaring her daughter. Hmm

I know, I should get a life, but I can't. Laws are all a bit different here, but it's almost impossible to get anyone booked.

BTW, I've almost started an AIBU 4 times this year on this subject Grin

What exactly do you expect the school to do about it? We regularly plead in our newsletters to ask parents to be considerate when parking and driving near the school in the morning and afternoon.

We have had staff and governors out at morning and afternoon drop off/pick up to monitor parking, only for them to face verbal abuse by a small number of car users. Staff need to be in school supervising children and preparing for lessons - not out supervising adults driving and parking.

We contact the police on numerous occasions regarding parking. Our local police are fab and do try to patrol but with so many other schools in the area with the same problem as well as all the other jobs they need to do their time is limited.

The responsibility for parking and driving should be placed firmly at the feet of the adult driving the vehicle and not the school.

Is 10 minutes long enough to do this?

I reported a taxi driver recently who was driving very dangerously on the moor road, speeding and overtaking on a speed bump on a blind bend. I took the reg number and the number on the council plate thingy. I emailed the specific "how to complain about a licensed taxi" address at the council and was told they can't do anything so "complain to the taxi company" Confused.

Repeated the whole exercise to the taxi company who said they would investigate. A few days later they came back and said it didn't happen. The driver of that vehicle was at home at the time and the taxi was parked on his drive. End of. Hmm Nobody gives a shit.

I never understand why people with company vans/cars with the logo clearly on it choose to park or drive like idiots. It puts me off using their services. If they care so little about annoying their potential clients, then I doubt they'd be any more concerned about the standard of the service they're offering.

Anotherusername1 · 26/11/2015 09:24

the problem is, every school is the same. There are always those few entitled parents parking like twats. Arses.

yes but if the council sends its traffic wardens round and they get enough tickets they might get the message. And if they don't, at least they are contributing to local services! I would definitely report it to the council and ask them to send someone round.

OP you are right, I wouldn't buy from them either.

Anotherusername1 · 26/11/2015 09:31

In fact maybe the answer is to distinguish between overstaying in a car park/in a resident's parking bay etc where you are breaking the rules but not being dangerous; and dangerous/obstructive parking eg on corners/on zigzags, and actually give out penalty points for it. If people thought their insurance premiums would rise and that they could possibly lose their licence, they'd stop parking like idiots. It is not difficult to park somewhere safe a bit further away and walk, even if you have to drive your kids to school.

talkinnpeace · 26/11/2015 14:09

yes but if the council sends its traffic wardens round
Your council has the money to spare traffic wardens away from the city centre?
Wow. Rich area.
