Scallops, rubbery fishy things. Sweet corn, pork scratchings, black pudding, prunes, sprouts, apples?!

TattyDevine · 24/11/2015 22:02

Not much I wont eat or try.

However, try as I might, I am not a fan of raw, unprocessed tomatoes. Like cherry tomatoes in a salad, for instance.

If they are done really "well" like chopped and skinned and de seeded on a bruschetta with dressings etc, fine, and of course cooked or as a sauce base or flavour, fine. But just to eat a raw tomato I can't do unless it were a bush tucker trial! Don't like the horrible slimy "savoury fruit" things.

On that theme I'm not a fan of savoury fruit in general, which leads to fruit and meat combos. Mango chicken. No. Pineapple on a pizza, just about okay. Raisons in a tagine, just about okay. Berries in salads with ham, not great. And so on so forth. Of course I avoid the bit I don't like if in company.

Can't think of much else. Things which would make some people flinch like raw beef (tartare etc), tripe, nose to tail stuff in general, capers, posh shite, strong flavours, exotic stuff, couldn't care less. I blanched slightly at some langoustines with the roe attached when I ate at St Johns in London when I was pregnant, mainly because I felt I was eating a mother and baby but I ate them anyway and they were fabulous.

So not much really. But tomatoes, gawd.

riverboat1 · 24/11/2015 22:15

Tatty - I am exactly the same with raw tomatoes being my only real food nemesis, and disliking fruit in savoury dishes. Only difference is - I hate tripe!

Leafitout · 24/11/2015 22:27

Advacado
Fenel
Black pudding
Milk

stqueen · 24/11/2015 22:42

Wasabi peas
Miso soup
Mustard - food of the devil
Gherkins
Olives
Rice
Coleslaw

All of the above are making me retch just thinking of them.

AuntGertrude · 24/11/2015 23:21

Mushrooms
Tripe and all offal (apart from black pudding)
Seafood - shellfish, squid, prawns etc
English mustard or horseradish

Sweet chestnut puree

FanjoFandango · 25/11/2015 12:46

DisneyMillie · 25/11/2015 14:57

Fennel
Liquorice
(Anything that's even got the vaguest smell of sambuca about it really after I mistakenly over indulged about 10 years ago - makes me want to be sick)

Anything with coffee in - I can taste even a teaspoon in a cake!

Olives
Marmite (obviously😷)

noeffingidea · 25/11/2015 17:27

Loads of stuff -
Meat and things made from meat
Full fat milk
Anything blackcurrent flavoured
Liquorice, and anything that tastes of aniseed
Mushrooms
Mangoes, mango chutney
Aubergines.
Those are the main ones, sure there's plenty more.

worriedmum100 · 25/11/2015 17:30

Garlic (unless cooked well into a sauce/stew/curry). Hate garlic bread for example.

Egg white

Egg yolk (but will eat scrambled egg/omelette/frit attached etc)

Tripe

That's about it for real hates.

Not keen on texture of bananas (flavour is ok) or very "fishy" seafood but would eat it if given it as guest.

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 25/11/2015 19:55

YES! Fruit flavoured chocolate (don't even get me started on mint flavoured chocolate)
Lamb unless minced and spiced with indian spices.
Rocket - tastes like the smell of fox piss
Ground ginger, fresh is fine
Radishes - pointless
baked cheesecake. I like the frozen ones with the really sour blackcurrants on
I will gladly eat your marzipan, celery, beetroot, pickles, parmesan, blue cheese, anchovies, seafood (never tried oysters but I'll have a go), ice cream, mayo and tomatoes

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 25/11/2015 20:02

There is a name for people that don't like cottage cheese discharge. You have piss-ishoos. When you squish something and pissy watery stuff comes out. Like badly drained cauliflower in cheese sauce or if bolognaise isnt thick enough, the spaghetti strains the tomatoey piss out so you are left with a puddle in the bottom of your bowl.

I have piss-ishoos Blush

DrFoxtrot · 25/11/2015 20:30

I love a lot of these foods. I'm not particularly fussy but the only thing I don't like is potato of any description. I love sweet potato so that and any other veg is my substitute.

itsmeohlord · 25/11/2015 20:33

Beetroot
Suet puddings
Dumplings
Custard
Any pudding made with hot milk (eg Rice pudding)
Gnochi
Gooseberries
Apricots
Courgettes unless fried in lots of butter
Cream cakes

Ohdearohdearme · 25/11/2015 20:51

Yorkshire puddings
Brown sauce
Liquorice
Shortcrust pastry
Fizzy pop
Beer
Coffee

MoriartyIsMyAngel · 25/11/2015 22:10

Big three are pineapple, raisins (and sultanas and currants), and sweetcorn. I'd rather go hungry than eat any of these things.

I also dislike egg dishes (I obsess over that little clotted membrane thing that hangs off the yolk, I'm sure it has a different texture to the rest when cooked.)

noeffingidea · 25/11/2015 22:20

moriaty I'm the same about eggs. I can only eat eggs that I have cooked myself. Hard boiled eggs and omelettes are the only safe way of eating eggs, as far as I'm concerned.
Those white stringy bits remind me of snot, and if I see them the egg has to be binned.

DrCoconut · 25/11/2015 23:47

Bacon. Horrible and the smell makes me feel sick. Also dried fruit. So many nice things are ruined by raisins or sultanas being needlessly added.

PurpleAlerts · 25/11/2015 23:58

Fresh coriander in salads or sprinkled over curry- yuk yuk yuk!

chemenger · 26/11/2015 09:33

There is a gene for not liking coriander, for people with the gene it tastes like soap. I suspect the same is true for goats cheese, which tastes like goat poo to those with it.

PurpleAlerts · 26/11/2015 12:39

Yes that is exactly what it tastes like to me-soap

SevenOfNineTrue · 26/11/2015 14:59

Raw fish
Raw meat
Anything that mixes sweet with savoury = Waldorf salad, pineapple on pizza etc
