is that her name, the woman who presents the x factor?

why is she so popular, I dont get it?

is she just ultra cool and I missed it all?

OP posts:
MagersfonteinLugg · 22/11/2015 23:25

she's a lot like that Alexa Chung thingymibob.
they are both celebs, but for the life of me, I have no idea why.
Apparantly AC is famous because she carries the "right handbag" when she leaves her house.
go figure.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 22/11/2015 23:26

She always looks like she needs her hair brushed (even though she's just had it done) and a good wash somehow to me Confused and her clothes are just awful - she has a nice figure but always seems to look like a bag of rocks tied with string.
I have no idea quite why I don't like her, it's just one of those unreasoning instant "things" - she annoys me for no reason at all...

noclueses · 22/11/2015 23:29

to be fair, she was 30 or at most 32 when dating Styles, so only just in her 30s and shew looked younger - I thought she was 26-27 the way she looked. He was 18 as I remember, but he is mature for his age and she is not the only older woman he dated - he dated a DJ woman of around 30. Its his taste, so I cn't see why not. Predatory? I think at 18 and with his confidence he wasn't vulnerable and he seems absolutely well-adjusted now so it hardly scarred him!
I think age gap sex needs to be viewed on individual basis - for some very innocent pr young for their age 18yr old it's wrong to date 30 yrs woman, but on their case it was fine as he had a varied sex life since and didn't affect him badly (i.e. his gfs since where both older and same age, and he may be also Bi, he's relaxed and mature for his age - he looks older than his age now).

noclueses · 22/11/2015 23:32

Oh and I'm absolutely sure, as Deb is saying, that she has connections possibly through parents, with tv industry and someone is helping her, but I like her and prefer her to many other presenters even though she is not perfect (speech a bit too staccato/lack of flow).

noclueses · 22/11/2015 23:34

Magers, Alexa has a real talent for style, same as Kate Moss. It's not just the bag, she's spot on and creative with it.

noclueses · 22/11/2015 23:36

sorry for omitted words and typos in the last paragraph above!

RachelZoe · 22/11/2015 23:37

He was 17 nocluese. I don't know if you have kids or how old they are but I have boys of that age (also very mature and one is a model so of that world where I appreciate people grow up faster), I would be extremely Hmm and concerned if they started dating someone in their mid twenties let alone 30's, as I think most mothers would be and I'm sure you would be too.

I don't think it's predatory as such (would be legal after all) in a serious more a reflection on her character and sensibilities, it's just weird and would demonstrate extreme social problems and immaturity on her part.

I just loathe all this "ooh, good for her" stuff when if the genders were reversed, everyone would be up in arms, even if people said the girl was very mature blah blah. It's extremely odd both ways.

Don't see what him being bi has to do with it at all.

gallicgirl · 22/11/2015 23:39

Harry Styles is dating Louis? Louis Walsh??

I should probably stick to Question Time.

ijustwannadance · 22/11/2015 23:40

Alexa chung always looks like her clothes are 4 sizes too big with spindly legs. And in photos she seems to stand like a kid who needs a wee.

MagersfonteinLugg · 22/11/2015 23:43

Sorry but whenever I see a pic of AC she looks like she got dressed in the dark. She actually looks very 2d like one of those paper dolls you used to get in the 70s where you stuck outfits over the body then folded the flaps over to make them stick.
That reminds me so much of AC.
I mean, what is her actual job?

ijustwannadance · 22/11/2015 23:44

Louis Spence?

MagersfonteinLugg · 22/11/2015 23:46

shagging louis from 1d or louise from x factor?

Crunchycookie · 22/11/2015 23:47

Flack used to present the ITV 2 I'm a celebrity gossip show, forget what it's called, but I always thought she was brilliantly funny on that with Nick Grimshaw. Sadly her natural humour doesn't come through much on Xfactor because it's pretty much scripted. She's actually a very funny lady.

Debbriana1 · 22/11/2015 23:48

I assumed it meant Louis Walsh. Smile which Louis are we talking about here ?

AnyoneButAndre · 22/11/2015 23:54

I think the fact that he was arguably the most famous pop star in the world at the time does make a difference to the power dynamic though. He really could have had his pick of thousands of girls and women of any age.

And that's assuming she wasn't a beard of course.

I liked her on Sam & Mark. She paid her dues on Saturday morning kids' telly, and music video link shows for years and years, she wasn't just helicoptered into the big time.

ijustwannadance · 22/11/2015 23:55

Crunchy i thought her and olly were great on extra factor because they could take the piss out of the acts. Now it's itv1 and scripted it does them no favours.

noclueses · 23/11/2015 00:09

Louis from 1D. But it's rumours so who knows. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Harry was bi, he's just one of those sexually confident people who do what they want regardless of opinions.
Crunch agree she has a good sense of humour and has that sexy earthy laugh imo.
Rachel. of course I can see your point esp as you are a mother of teenage boys. Nut sadly or not, it's modern life, boundaries just don't exist in ways they used to and people just do what the heck they like - but I believe that it's important to think what harm can your actions bring. Lots of people do cause harm by their behaviour, esp sexually predatory older men or those cruel people who impose swinging on their unwilling and long suffering partners. I just can't see what harm a fling like that (no one was coerced) would cause - even though I agree that the choice itself speaks of her issues possiblly, but again they are not harmful issues more like a quirk? Mayne it's the way for her to feel desirable or just plainly she can't help but be only attracted to younger men (her other bf is/was younger too). I can't see how Harry had suffered either - he is happily dating all sorts, maybe he's just experimenting.
Btw I don't think it's rare at all for late teens (18-19 especially_ to sleep with older women, they just don't tell their parents. I really don't see how it harms then IF the woman means n harm and isn't brainwashing him or turns him into her slave. As I say Harry is well adjusted. I think she wouldn;'t choose someone vulnerable as she is not some bitch from what I can see.
As I say, in some cases it can be damaging, on individual basis, if the woman involved is eviil in some way.
And sorry but I do think there is a difference between a girl of 18/man in her 30s as girls tend to get emotionally attached VERY strongly when inexperienced and a man is charismatic and can be hugely controlled, whereas late teen boys are all about sexual experimentation. As a general rule of course.

noclueses · 23/11/2015 00:11

Anyone to be fair the fling started before he got to the world pop star status - he was still on X factor then but of course already very popular and with fame in the making.

noclueses · 23/11/2015 00:16

the girl can be hugely controlled, I meant.

Crazypetlady · 23/11/2015 01:01

The harry and Louis thing was created by their fandom as a ship. Which is apparently a relationship they route for or something according to my young cousin. They are very uncomfortable about the whole affair she said.

I like caroline flack. Not sure I would be happy with ds dating a 30 year old when he is 17 though

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 23/11/2015 09:31

I can't get past the fact that her hair looks like it was cut with a pair of blunt nail scissors Shock

Fratelli · 23/11/2015 09:48

The only issue I have is that if she was a man and Harry styles was a woman, it would have been a huge issue in the media. I found it really creepy!

cleoteacher · 23/11/2015 09:58

That's my point, she's not polished, and so I think people like that as she's very different to other presenters. People seem to want someone they can relate to and other presenters don't seem so girl next door like. The X factor has gone down a totally different route this year with the presenters. Previously they were always so polished and professional. Demot would not have made the mistake that ollie made the other week. I think she is better than ollie and often seems to sort him out from messing up.

I agree you don't quite feel comfortable watching them as it does feel on the brink of a disaster more then once during the show. They do seem to stumble their way through a bit and you are waiting for a slip up.

I think they were picked because of the 'Are they, aren't they?' Rumours and the dynamics they have with each other. It feels much more loose this year and ad hoc than ever before.

JoffreyBaratheon · 23/11/2015 12:05

You certainly realise how good Dermot was, seeing someone else presenting it. But then it must be a tough thing to do - one of the most nervewracking jobs on TV I'd have thunk.

She strikes me as a bit anodyne but she isn't the car crash of a presenter Olly is. And as others say, she is far more easy to relate to than some polished supermodel.

The Harry thing was creepy. How real are these things though? Maybe they had the same agent...

Lostcat2 · 23/11/2015 12:17

I think shed very likeable. She's. Good enough presenter it a light entertainment show. It's not question time or news night is it?

As a mum of older boys I can assure you that they probably would have prayed for a sect woman of 30 to shag them. Yes I wouldn't have been happy as a mum but they would have thought Christmas had come early. Grin

No idea who AC is so googling her.
