I dont have a kindle but at the present i am reading a book called 'what about me?' By kate figes. Its very light reading done in a diary form describing family life from a 14 year old and the mothers diary. Read it lads of times but return when i need relaxation and to laugh. Waiting to be read is the lake house by kate morton. Loved her the house at riverton but not been in the mood to read her for the last few nights. These are all real books with the smell of the paper which i love.

I second the jigsaw man!! Brilliant book. And knowing one of the "victims" in real life it gave me a real insight into how they caught him!
Also read all the Rachael Abbott books, all of them were great!

hels71 · 22/11/2015 21:18

I'm re-reading Gaudy Night by Dorothy L Sayers.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 22/11/2015 21:18

I always have a Kindle book and a real books on the go.
My real book is The truth about the Harry Quebert Affair by Joël Dicker (good so far, few chapters in) and We are all completely beside ourselves but I couldn't get into it, despite it being given to me by my best friend who said it was brilliant, sorry!
My kindle I'm currently reading Little Women again as most of the classics are free having just finished The Martian, which I loved.
Always looking for inspiration for new Kindle reads so watching closely.

Kindles are great when you have a baby who BFs and/or rocks to sleep and you can't read a real book as you don't want the light on!
However if I love an author or expect to like an upcoming book I'll get the real version, I tend to just read short term trashy cheap books or the free classics on Kindle.

Submission by Michel Houellebecq. Unputdownable.

ratspeaker · 22/11/2015 21:24

I have been reading all of Ian Rankin's Rebus novels, now going to start on the new one.

My Story by Emmeline Pankhurst, really interesting.

MissBEverdene · 22/11/2015 21:27

Sorry 'My Own Story'

Izzabellasasperella · 22/11/2015 21:28

I'm reading Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King. Collection of short stories I'm really enjoying it although some are better than others.

Passmethecrisps · 22/11/2015 21:31

I downloaded the miniaturist on a total whim last week. I absolutely love it.

I am now worried about finishing it because I have nothing to move on to.

ThornyBird · 22/11/2015 21:33

I've just started the 4th Poldark novel - dh has been buying them to read so it would be rude for me not to read them too...

Alconleigh · 22/11/2015 21:38

Doublecross by Ben McIntyre, about the spies who set up false information about the D Day Landings to mislead the Nazis. And yesterday finished the fifth and final Cazalet novel by Elizabeth Jane Howard, which I am sad about as I loved them.

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 22/11/2015 21:40

Loved killing me softly. I do really enjoy nicci french but the style can get a bit repetitive after a while. I like to pop another author in between their books, but then u read James p so what do I know!!!

atticusclaw2 · 22/11/2015 21:40

I loved the Martian. I've been recommending it to everyone.

Ive just downloaded Children of the Dust which I remember reading when I was about 12.

Ive also just discovered Bluefirereader, a free app which allows you to download ebooks from the library for free so well worth knowing about.

MajesticWhine · 22/11/2015 21:47

I just finished a book called "What Alice forgot" by Liane Moriarty which was quite fun, slightly trashy. I don't know what is going to be next. I have got a few downloaded including The Silkworm, Station Eleven and Home.

atticusclaw2 · 22/11/2015 21:49

Ooo Station Eleven is fab!

TheoriginalLEM · 22/11/2015 21:51

I started reading "the jigsaw man" many years ago - had to put it down, too disturbing for me.

Loved the minaturist.

Can't be doing with Mislit.

I miss books tbh but my eyesight is not brilliant and i hate wearing glasses in bed so i prefer the kindle as i can have big font.

One of the Janie Bolitho Rose Trevelyan books. Can't remember exactly which one as I have downloaded them all.

Yes I admit, not very intellectual but I can't cope with heavy, meaningful literature and hold up my hands to never having read any of the classics.

Bluecheese22 · 22/11/2015 21:59

The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (J.K Rowling's pseudonym)

MyIronLung · 22/11/2015 22:44

The handmaids tale. I flippin' love my kindle. Seriously, what's not to love? New books instantly, hundreds of them in one easily accessible place and the ability to read in the dark! I also love book books but the kindle is just so convenient Grin.

SorryCantBeArsed · 22/11/2015 22:45

A Christmas Carol I've read it several times before but I love it Smile

Whathaveilost · 22/11/2015 22:46

The Xenophobe's Guide to the Icelanders.

It's really amused me!

aquashiv · 22/11/2015 22:48

The Women of Camelot

Trickydecision · 22/11/2015 22:51

Switching between escaping into 'The 12 Days of Christmas', by Tisha Ashley, as mentioned on the 'Christmas Book' thread, and brooding on 'The Bell' by Iris Murdoch.
