To open the carrots?

So, I'm in the supermarket and they've run out of loose carrots. AIBU to open a bag of pre packaged carrots and take a few out to buy separately?

DH thinks I am but my DM says she does all the time.

DM once got to the till with a single parsnip taken from a bag only to be be told they don't sell them loose. The checkout guy was really confused! AIBU?

Carbs that is an excellent story Grin I am trying to work out the Daily Mail headline 'Killer carrots'. I'm sure someone will do better. Sorry no derailment intended.

carbsfoundme · 21/11/2015 18:08

Yes elephant, she reads The Times though and not sure they do sadface stories Grin

I asked her why she carries said knife to Tesco; her explanation was she uses it to cut the stalks off broccoli to save a few pence Confused She's an old skool tight Yorkshirewoman who drives a brand new car but will risk losing a digit for cheaper veg.

Sorry for derailment OP!

Why the fuck would you even think about doing this?!

Just buy a bag for a quid FGS.

saraht84 · 21/11/2015 21:23

By your logic next time asda have the gall to run out of 2 pint bottles of milk, should I just open a 4 pint bottle and pour half on the floor?

limitedperiodonly · 21/11/2015 21:47

Why do people buy bags of vegetables?

Oysterbabe · 21/11/2015 21:51

Because apparently they sometimes run out of the loose ones.

Picnic2223 · 21/11/2015 22:00

sarah was going to say the exact same thing!

cashewnutty · 21/11/2015 22:07

I wanted to buy parsnips one time. They had none loose but someone had opened the last packet. I took 2 and paid for them as if they were loose ones. No big deal really.

Crazypetlady · 21/11/2015 22:24

It is 57p I think in Asda for carrots just buy them. The staff wouldn't be able to put these in loose they would be thrown. YABU.

Often, there is another crate underneath. Try moving it and checking.
