To leave him asleep on the sofa?

DH and I had an early start and he's had a long day (12 hours at work). Got to nearly 8pm and he was asleep on the sofa while we were watching a bit of telly. I wake him up to go to bed as I'm tired too, do evening ritual of turning off appliances, letting dogs out and go upstairs. DH says he's coming up. Get into pyjamas, brush my teeth, still no DH. Get in to bed reading for twenty minutes still no DH. Have shouted him twice and he says he's coming but AIBU to just leave him on the sofa? I just don't get why people fall asleep on the sofa, if you're tired just go to bed!

But is it even a mean thing to do to leave him to sleep on the sofa? Have you seen the film Out of Africa? Meryl Streep comes home one day to see Robert Redford has come for a visit and had fallen asleep in a chair while waiting for her. She didn't rouse him. It seemed a very loving thing to do to let him sleep on even though they only had a limited time to spend together. Sometimes my OH falls asleep after dinner watching tv. He's resting. That's a pretty fine thing to do. Who am I to interrupt that because I think he should do that someplace else? If I think he really wants to see the programme I'll pause it and carry on with something else.
