"A new mandate to NHS England is due to be published following the completion of the Spending Review, to take effect from April 2016."

We have ONLY TILL THE 24TH NOVEMBER to comment on this mandate (link below).

www.gov.uk/government/consultations/setting-the-mandate-to-nhs-england-for-2016-to-2017

It's not well publicised (surprise surprise), as the article below points out:

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/nov/19/nhs-mandate-england-consulation-deadline

If you want to have your say, get in there now. Don't let them sneak it past us!

Yes, it is and I am angry.
But I will speak.

This.

Poofus · 21/11/2015 21:24

Bump

PausingFlatly · 22/11/2015 07:59

From Guardian: NHS consultation expands inbox after flurry of responses. Logo removed too.

'"After this Comment is free piece we had hundreds of emails coming in with responses to the consultation,” he said. "That happened overnight. Officials have got a bigger inbox now and they also removed the logo."'

WTF?

How many responses were they expecting in a national consultation about the future of the NHS, if "hundreds" was too much?

AnotherEffingOrangeRevel · 22/11/2015 08:36

It's ridiculous. It would almost be funny, if... you know, it didn't represent a situation which is going to screw over a lot of people's lives. Sad

Do you think MNHQ would do anything to highlight this issue for the last response day?

OP posts:
PausingFlatly · 22/11/2015 09:12

You can but ask.

IamTheWhoreofBabylon · 22/11/2015 09:25

Bumping
I shared on FB too

GreenSand · 22/11/2015 10:11

Successfully submitted. Thank-you for raising this vital consultation document to the masses more effectively than the NHS managed.

PausingFlatly · 22/11/2015 11:39

Ahh, it's not being done by the NHS, GreenSand. It's being done (or, not done) by Westminster:

"Seeks views on the government’s proposals to set the new mandate to NHS England for this Parliament"

GreenSand · 22/11/2015 15:19

Opps, sorry. Westminster can't organise a consultation to see what the majority (if you can describe it as that) who voted them in actually want.

CainInThePunting · 22/11/2015 17:29

Thank you for highlighting this, I've submitted my response successfully.

PausingFlatly · 23/11/2015 08:53

Morning bump.

Submissions close at 11:45 pm tonight.

GreenSand · 23/11/2015 09:26

Gentle nudge to top of active conversations.

EcclefechanTart · 23/11/2015 10:41

Have done it now, through the online system. I hope that will avoid full inboxes!

Gisforgustywinds · 23/11/2015 11:23

bumpy bump Smile.

JamNan · 23/11/2015 11:30

WE ONLY HAVE UNTIL TUESDAY NIGHT TO RESPOND AND SAVE NHS ENGLAND.

The Mandate is appallingly written and full of platitudes. I think it is deliberately vague to deter people from responding. Instead of wading through the acres of jargon in the response form and returning it write an email instead and let Hunt know what you feel.

NHS: set the agenda
Email NHS mandate team - UK government

You could write just a few short sentences about your priorities for the future of our NHS. Here's some suggestions:

Tips for writing emails:
You could demand a health service that's given all the money it needs to care for everyone - from funding for social and elderly care in the community, to enough money for cancer treatment, to making sure everyone can see their GP when they need to.

You could say no to privatisation in our NHS. Profit-making companies should have no place in our healthcare system.

You could tell a personal story of how the NHS has helped you and your family.

PS: The NHS belongs to all of us. It's still something to be proud of, and the staff do an amazing job of looking after us whenever we need it. But after years of privatisation and budget cuts cracks are starting to appear. If we want to still be able to rely on the NHS for years to come, we need to fight to keep it. So please tell the Department of Health you don't like the direction it's heading in -

ZoeTurtle · 23/11/2015 11:57

Very frustrating exercise. The document they've put out says precisely nothing, so what can we comment on? I'm quite sure they will disregard any messages along the lines JamNan recommends, though sending one has to be better than doing nothing.

JamNan · 23/11/2015 12:07

I fear that they will disregard the comments and do exactly as they please.

ZoeTurtle · 23/11/2015 12:08

Yep. That must be why the 'mandate' is so vague - they can do whatever they want and point to something in the document that justifies it, in their minds.

Tuiles · 23/11/2015 12:14

This feels positively Orwellian Angry

I am simultaneously indignant and despairing Sad

HopefulAnxiety · 23/11/2015 12:30

Thanks so much for this thread.

Have reported it to MN with comments in the hopes that it gets stickied or highlighted by them in some way.

PausingFlatly · 23/11/2015 12:33

IT CLOSES TONIGHT, MONDAY.

Sorry to shout.

From the gov.uk website link in the OP: "This consultation closes at 23 November 2015 11:45pm"

Gisforgustywinds · 23/11/2015 13:27

Thank you Jam, I have written an email using the form you linked to.

MoriartyIsMyAngel · 23/11/2015 13:48

Place marking so I remember to do this when I get home.

megletthesecond · 23/11/2015 13:57

It's really badly laid out . I responded to a health & fitness (activity?) consultation a few weeks ago and it was much easier to work through.

Anyone would think this consultation has been made as awkward as possible to minimise responses Hmm.

I've responded but they'll do what they want anyway.
