To ask you if you 'hubby'?

Not a thread about a thread but a thread inspired by a thread.

I've noticed a lot of 'hubby' references on MN in the last few months. This is new isn't it? I thought the average MNer was as allergic to 'hubby' as Gremlins are to water and being fed after midnight.

So do you 'hubby' or do you snub(by) 'hubby'?

I don't use hubby anywhere! I'm not snobby about it, but it's not a word in my every day vocab!

Onedirectionarestillloved · 17/11/2015 22:07

I wouldn't use it but can't say I've noticed it tbh.
Most people seem to put dh on the threads I read.

Oysterbabe · 17/11/2015 22:07

I snubby.

reni2 · 17/11/2015 22:08

I have never hubbied. Or used hubs or hubster.

ouryve · 17/11/2015 22:10

Hell no. Far too fucking twee.

If I'm referring to him anonymously, I might say "The Husband" and I know he'll call me "The Mrs" because he does about other people's wives.

MitzyLeFrouf · 17/11/2015 22:10

There was a definite bosom hoik there reni! Grin

NutCrackerSlacker · 17/11/2015 22:11

No, but it doesn't bother me if others use it.

reni2 · 17/11/2015 22:11

Indeed.

sugar21 · 17/11/2015 22:11

I am no longer married so now he is referred to as arsehole, but in the past he was never hubby

Bookeatingboy · 17/11/2015 22:11

Can't even bring myself to type the word, let alone use it... Grin

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2015 22:12

I can hardly bring myself to type the word, let alone say it.

Brummiegirl15 · 17/11/2015 22:12

Oh god no. Can't bear Bubz or bubba either - really sets my teeth on edge

laffymeal · 17/11/2015 22:12

In rl I use the term "the old man"

MrsBungle · 17/11/2015 22:12

No. I don't hubby.

honeyroar · 17/11/2015 22:12

I use it sometimes. It's shorter than husband and I can't bear DH, it sounds so corny.

reni2 · 17/11/2015 22:12

What's hubby's wife called, wifey?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 17/11/2015 22:14

Snubby. I quite like "him indoors" or Mr Testing.

MitzyLeFrouf · 17/11/2015 22:14

The good thing about 'DH' is that it can just as easily be 'damn' as it can be 'darling'.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 17/11/2015 22:16

fuck no. hate, hate hate. dh also stands for other non complimentary combinations.

yorkshapudding · 17/11/2015 22:18

I don't see it much on MN but Facebook seems to be riddled with it. "Date night with the hubz!". Boak.

skankingpiglet · 17/11/2015 22:19

Ugh. Just no. Definitely a non-hubby/wifey household here. I think DH would file for divorce if I called him that, it's a particular pet hate. I do get away with sugarplum fairy however Grin
I saw my Facebook feed is today advertising his'n'hers hubby/wifey T-shirts. Clearly the targetting software isn't getting it's audiences quite right.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 17/11/2015 22:20

The Mister or the Hubmiester.

Not actually married yet so admittedly a bit premature but it will be happening in the next 12-18 months GrinGrin

skankingpiglet · 17/11/2015 22:20

sugar21 Grin

reni2 · 17/11/2015 22:20

hubby/wifey T-shirts

NotAWhaleOmeletteInSight · 17/11/2015 22:22

Funnily enough I was hoiking my judgey pants at this exact phenomenon earlier this evening.

I never EVER 'hubby'. Boak. I might 'Husbington McHuslibobs' though.
