None of these bother me, maybe I say them in real life sometimes Smile

SelfLoathing · 17/11/2015 00:25

Either it is stationary or it is not ...

In the USA they have such a thing as a rolling stop. it's not a stop

virtualdriveoftexas.com/resources/texas-driving-laws/what-is-a-rolling-stop.html

SelfLoathing · 17/11/2015 00:27

Also "please remember to take all your personal belongings"

Your belongings are yours.

hoopityhoopla · 17/11/2015 00:33

YES to 'I could care less'!! Surely anyone could look at that sentence and see that it makes NO SENSE!!

hoopityhoopla · 17/11/2015 00:35

also threads with titles like 'AIBU that she was rude?'. what? huh? AIBU to think that she was rude. sigh

Weathergames · 17/11/2015 00:45

tkband3 · 17/11/2015 01:14

There's an advert for a fitted bedroom furniture company which says 'if you want to make the most of your storage space and maximise it too' - gives me the rage every time I see it...what do they think maximise means?!!!

BikeRunSki · 17/11/2015 01:20

If we're being pedantic, Moonlight Shadow was released in 1983.

Name7 · 17/11/2015 02:32

Also being pedantic the song is 4 am in the morning !

Bloodybridget · 17/11/2015 02:37

Leading expert - as opposed to all the rest who are just experts?

fascicle · 17/11/2015 08:57

Might be on my own here, but tautology puts a smile on my face, along with mixed metaphors, spoonerisms etc.

MaidOfStars · 17/11/2015 09:02

Half expect.

RooftopCat · 17/11/2015 09:11

Also "please remember to take all your personal belongings"
Your belongings are yours.

I take that as, please take the stuff you came on with. Don't take the stuff we gave you on the plane that 'belonged' to you during the flight - eg, headphones, blanket.

ProfGrammaticus · 17/11/2015 09:14

Name - that was bugging me too Grin

An error in citing the error. Aargh!

Believeitornot · 17/11/2015 09:15

Do you know what they mean?

You do?

Then what is the big deal? There's a pedant corner for these petty conversations. Life is far too short, unless we are talking about things where it actually matters.

CMOTDibbler · 17/11/2015 09:16

Orchard, the complete stop (ie, crew have been told to disarm doors and cross check, seatbelt sign off) is because people decide that each pause of the plane as it waits to make a turn is it stopping and leap up.

Not that this is a personal bugbear or anything...

happytoseeyou · 17/11/2015 09:16

service available 24x7x365 .... 24x7 is enough !!!!!!!
and what about leap years ????

OrchardDweller · 17/11/2015 09:21

CMOTDibbler - hadn't thought of it that way! However, now being pedantic ... should it be "final" stop? Smile

iPaid · 17/11/2015 09:23

Exact same thing gets my goat.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 17/11/2015 09:31

DH believes morningtime (yes, all one word) is a "proper" word and acceptable to use in general conversation.

middlings · 17/11/2015 09:32

Sounds like the recorded message when you phone my GP surgery - 'we are currently dealing with other patients at present'

Kurri, DH's out of office message reads "I am currently out of the office until..."

He's lucky I love him. It makes me grind my teeth. I have pointed it out a hundred couple of times

PurpleHairAndPearls · 17/11/2015 09:33

I seem to be posting this on every thread I am on Blush but the use of "hero" as a verb is currently interfering greatly with my enjoyment of Masterchef Australia.

"I am going to hero the beef"

FUCK OFF

PurpleHairAndPearls · 17/11/2015 09:34

I hope my use of "currently" was acceptable there GrinWink

middlings · 17/11/2015 09:38

Purple, your use of "currently" was just fine Grin.

What does "hero the beef" even mean?!

(I don't watch Masterchef Australia)
