To be annoyed at this eBay seller?

I ordered something for my DS's Christmas from eBay a few days ago.

I'd seen this toy online and the price varied unbelievably however I found it new on eBay for the cheapest price (by far). Great, I thought, and ordered it.

I got an email last night saying "there was an issue with the warehouse therefore they couldn't supply my order and would issue a full refund".

Ok, fair enough, shit happens. I was mildly annoyed because it had been such a bargain and I'd looked for a while but hey ho.

So went back onto eBay to look for another and the same seller is still advertising the toy but at 30% more expensive?!

I've now ordered another one, from another seller that's dearer still

AIBU to think the seller is cheeky or could it be genuine?

You can report them, I think as a non performing seller (disclaimer: I am not an eBay expert).

It won't get you the item at the lower price but might prevent them from doing it again.

Happens on ebay and Amazon a lot. Both businesses fo very little about it

Yeah, you're right to be annoyed.
How many of these items have they sold? You can tell by looking at the listing. If it's a lot then it's likely they have made an honest mistake with their stock numbers, rather than an individual who has decided it's too cheap and this they don't want to sell it to you anymore......

You can leave negative feedback if you want.

Contact the seller and explain that they were breaking ebay's terms an conditions and that you will report them and give negative feedback unless they honour the original price. then neg them anyway, cheecky fuckers

I didn't realise this happened a lot. I've never had it personally happen to me before.

It's saying 1 sold and there's the 1 left to sell.

Think I might report to eBay. I should have contacted the seller first to interrogate query because I've now ordered another one from elsewhere.

If you do what reality said then you will most probably get a warning from eBay about feedback extortion and the feedback could be removed.

I've contacted the seller questioning it, so will see what they say..

They may have made a mistake in their listing and not realised until they sold it to you.

Sorry OP just re read your thread and didn't pick up the bit of them re listing at a higher price! Yeah, definitely send mp them a message threatening negative feedback, low stars, reporting to eBay, unless they honour original price and follow through on it if they dot respond or refuse.

DON'T send them a message threatening low feedback and stars! If you do, they will use that to get the feedback removed. It is against ebay rules to use 'feedback extortion'. This includes using phrases like 'I will leave appropriate feedback. If the seller is in the habit of being dodgy, they will certainly know about that and take advantage of it.

It doesn't necessarily mean that they want to make a bigger profit, it could simply be that they could no longer source the item at the lower price.

I reported a seller and they do act swiftly. Take down the item reference. And report.

I had the same thing happen a few months ago, got a toy at a bargain price on eBay (about a fiver cheaper than other places so not a massive saving) and then a message saying they were having "supply problems" and it wasn't coming. Mine wanted me to cancel the transaction from my end, I don't know that much about how it all works but DH said that was them being cheeky and not wanting it to affect their seller rating so I told them no, they would have to cancel it from their end.
