To wonder if Jihadi John ever existed?

Just that really. Another convenient bogeyman who was (even more conveniently) 'vapourised' from a distance.

We're constantly manipulated by the powers-that-be, and I can't shake the feeling that this case stinks.

Before you jump on me as a conspiracy theorist, bear in mind the following government-orchestrated events that were used to manipulate public opinion;

  • abduction and murder of the Italian premier
  • bombing of public squares in Italy
  • hijacking of Cuban airliner and subsequent murders
  • ongoing collusion, murder and torture throughht the NI 'troubles'

Am I alone? Should I be donning a tin-foil hat?

I don't think we should tie ourselves up with conspiracy theories, the most likely truth is what we've been told. He had been killed and he did exist.

I would say he was a carefully chosen frontman. Chosen by isis to lure other British or western recruits.

Not some deluded foreigner.

Sending out a strong message that brits of muslim faith are not happy.

No justanotherlurker, I don't have much faith in the security services. they hoover up all that metadata, a tactic that's useless as they can't analyse it. Take the London bombings in 2005: at least 2 of the bombers were known about yet they still happened. The arrests in England this week of 8 men wasn't down to British or US intelligence, but of the Italians.

the donors are private. It's obviously not a 'state' funded operation

So really no one knows who heads them up.

As I said above

Maybe it is all a plot to bring the downfall of the Arab states

the agenda when you look at it

First they cut off the Muslim and particularly Arab world from the rest, destroy their modern governments in favour of a caliphate, then encourage war between the caliphate and everybody else

Is very ambiguous in that on the one hand ISIS could be run by Muslims who want to create a war between themselves and the west or It could be that under the guise of being Muslims an anonymous body of people want to bring the Arab world down.

Suggesting that the US and UK run people like Jihadi John for their own purposes is attributing to both far more agency and nous than they actually have. It's actually childlike to believe they could do something like this, before you even get to why they would.

As a corrective, read this article by a recently retired Middle East policy wonk for Obama:

I've only read the OP.

What a stupid comment/post

Have you been living in a cave for the past couple of years?

Yes, downright stupid to ask if Jihadi John ever existed!
Maybe the OP should ask the question of the families of James Foley, Steven Sotloff, David Haines, Alan Henning and Peter Kassig. I'm almost sure they would provide a much more eloquent response to the question "To wonder if Jihadi John ever existed?"
"A convenient Bogeyman? being manipulated by politicians?"

FFS the OP needs to get real, open their eyes and smell the coffee because innocent people, aid workers, volunteers are being executed by these cruel cunts!

And you have the front to call me out on it given what happened this weekend!

If the OP had denied the murder of the people you list, perhaps you would have a point.
She/he did not do any such thing.
There is coffee to be smelt, no doubt. I'm not sure it's the OP who needs it, though.

Ok, ok. We've made him up, you win

He was not in those videos of the executions of James Foley, Steven Sotloff, David Haines, Alan Henning and Peter Kassig.

His name isn't Mohammed Emwazi

He didn't attend Quintin Kynaston School or the University of Westminster.

That was the thread title was it not,
"To wonder if Jihadi John ever existed"

He was just a convenient bogeyman set up by at least two governments and the associated security services.

What a load of old yoghurt weaving claptrap!

He was REAL, and any attempt to question if he actually existed is, in my opinion, deeply insulting to the families of those he was involved in the murder of.

Just saying, my opinion.
