To think it's wrong that my dad called my 2 year old niece a bi**h

Not to her face but he referred to her as this because of her 2 year old irrational behaviour. I feel upset that he can talk about a child like this.

Maybe it just happens where I live

Dublin, maggie ? I've heard it all my life, tiny little babies being referred to as bitches. It is meant affectionately but it's still awful. I think it's dying out, but you do still hear it around Sad

Yes Dublin. It is v. common isn't it? Doesn't bother me but wouldn't use it myself!

Oh God- that's just terrible! Shock

thickgit · 12/11/2015 00:22

It's sad :(

YANBU, Bitch is really an aggressive way to speak about a woman, even more about a little girl.
My sister and I sometimes call my niece an asshole, but it is light-hearted (because babies can be right tiny assholes when they want) and we won't be calling her that when she understands words.

I'll own projecting here because one of the many reasons I distanced from mil is because she thought it was ok to call DH' cousins dc "little bitch" or for the boys "pigs"

Everyone claimed it was because she was old, had a disabled son (don't ask me the logic in that) and it's just the way she spoke

But honestly I don't think it's appropriate to call children that ....meant get me wrong behind closed doors I've occasionally called ds a little sod to DH but never anything stronger or to his face

It's just not ok
