I woke up with this horrible feeling of despair and started to have a panic attack. Felt faint so sat down and this horrible feeling is coming in waves. I wish I had someone with me Sad

I think Veda's posts are really useful. The reason I highlighted the pain level is that it helped my GP understand that it wasn't normal period pains. I have been on threads here where someone is talking about endo and a helpful poster pops up with a comment about a couple of paracetamol and a hot water bottle for period pains. I know everyone's experience is different but an awful lot of people, medics included, don't really appreciate that endo pain is not a few bad period pains. So don't hold back from telling the GP just how bad it really is.
The other piece of advice I would give is start taking NSAID e.g. Ibuprofen before the pain gets out of control. Taking them early can help reduce the prostaglandin build up which in turn reduces the level of pain felt.

Absolutely chaz, nothing worse then the take a paracetamol vomments...

I was told for years by my gp that period pains were normal, the problem is women don't talk about their periods to each other so none really knows what normal is. After my first lap the surgeon told me that my bowel was totally fused to the back of my uterus and asked if I had much pain when going to the loo when I was bleeding.... Umm I thought that was normal and that everything just hurt when it was that time of the month!

Flowers it might be worth keeping a pain journal for a mo th just so you are clear on your own symptoms. I aware that my vagueness delayed my diagnosis by years. Rate your pain each day and if you see your doctor in a 'good' day you'll be less likely to minimise your symptoms yourself. Also keep a note of the day of your cycle vs the pain, ovulation pain is quite common with Endo especially if there is Endo on your ovaries. Pain going to the loo can indicate bowel involvement etc.

Good luck, I'd be really interested to hear how you get on with your go when you go. Hope you're having a better day today

X

Thank you Veda I've just made an appointment with my GP so hopefully I can get the ball rolling. I've had endo/adeno symptoms since I started my periods at 10. I went to see a gynae and I insisted he do a lap. He said I probably didn't have endo and didn't want to do the lap. Turns out I did have endo plus suspected adeno. After the surgery, I asked him if it were possible that i'd had it since I was 10, he said no 10 year olds don't get endo. I'd like to know how it's normal for 10 year olds to be vomiting and rolling around in agony, going hot and cold and almost passing out during their period.

Feeling really ill today, waiting for doctor to phone me

I think that there is something physical going on that is causing my strange symptoms. I don't feel like myself at all; insomnia, night sweaats, low blood sugar, depression, panic attacks

It might be worth getting your thyroid function checked. An overactive thyroid can cause insomnia, anxiety, excessive sweating. The other possible hormonal problem is menopause so get your hormone levels checked as a precaution.

FlowersAndShit · 12/11/2015 16:16

Thank you, I have an appointment for tomorrow so they'll probably send me for a blood test. I've always had symptoms of overactive thyroid but blood tests have always come back normal. Even the outer edge of my eyebrows have been bald for about 10 years!

Aw flowers sorry you've felt crap today. I hope you get some support from your doctor. They can be very dismissive in the face of 'vague' symptoms like tiredness and anxiety but make sure you have a really good think tonight about everything that your experiencing. Possibly even write a list, and present with ALL your symptoms tomorrow. It can be very easy to go in ill prepared and end up mentioning something random and the appointment gouge off in a tangent on you because that's the one thing the doctors ears pick up and iykwim. You are your own advocate so say what you want / need to.

I hope you manage to have a nice evening, anything decent on the telly tonight you can snuggle down to watch?

FlowersAndShit · 12/11/2015 18:13

Thanks Veda. My mum is quite dismissive about it, the same with my endo so i'll probably go in on my own. I'm feeling better now, just had a nice bath. Going to watch Kitchen impossible on ch4 Smile it's on at 9pm.

Good luck for your appointment today, I hope your doctor can offer you some support and ongoing investigations

FlowersAndShit · 13/11/2015 18:20

Thank you so much for your support Veda Flowers. Doctor checked my blood pressure and all normal, he wants me to go for a blood test and he said if nothing shows up on that then it's probably anxiety. I told him about my recent insomnia anad he gave me sleeping tablets, which I won't be taking.

I mentioned the endometriosis and if he could refer me and he said he wouldn't be able to refer me to a specialist and that I should see a female doctor about that. Tbh I think I was going over my time limit and he wanted to go home, so i'll make another appointment.
